Prince William And Kate Middleton Send Meghan Markle Birthday Wish

As Meghan Markle enters a new decade of life by ringing in her 40th birthday today, well wishes are arriving from all over, including other members of the royal family. Posting to their official Twitter account, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a sweet birthday tribute to the Duchess of Sussex. The post included a lovely photo of Markle from her and Prince Harry's Oct. 2018 trip to Australia, which depicts the duchess sitting on the sand at Bondi Beach with a string of flowers around her neck as she smiles widely.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge weren't the only royals to wish Markle a happy birthday, with well-wishes also coming from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. It's not clear exactly how Markle will be celebrating her special day, but it has been reported that the couple plans to keep things quiet as they're still on parental leave after welcoming their first daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in June.

The Duchess of Sussex has had a momentous year since her 39th birthday. After moving to their Montecito, California home months before her 2020 birthday, the Sussexes announced major multimillion-dollar deals with Spotify, Netflix, and more, while in March of this year they gave their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Since then, they welcomed Lilibet on June 4, followed by the release of Markle's first children's book, "The Bench." Meanwhile, Harry has executive produced a series about mental health with Winfrey, titled "The Me You Can't See" and announced an upcoming memoir, to be released next year. Weeks ago, Markle revealed her latest project, "Pearl," an animated series about a 12-year-old girl which will be released on Netflix.

The birthday congratulations from Prince William and Kate Middleton were posted to the Cambridges' Twitter account, with the message:

"Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!"

They included a photo of Meghan Markle from her and Prince Harry's Oct. 2018 trip to Australia, in which she's sitting on the sand at Bondi Beach with a smile on her face. Wearing an olive green striped dress, the duchess has a string of pink flowers hanging around her neck.

One commenter noticed the lovely photo that was chosen for the occasion, writing:

"Happy Birthday and what a lovely photo you guys chose!"

Another user commented on the graciousness of the post, writing:

"Once again, William & Catherine proving their class & grace — rightly known as the assets to The Royal Family!"

But the Cambridges weren't the only members of the royal family to wish Markle a happy birthday. Queen Elizabeth shared a touching message on the official royal family Twitter account, which read, "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!" Accompanying the message were three gorgeous photos of Markle — one in which she's smiling widely as she stands beside the queen, one of her, Prince Harry, and Archie, from their trip to Africa in 2019, and a more recent one of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex smiling widely from one of their last royal engagements in March 2020.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also wished Markle a happy birthday on their Twitter account. Alongside a gorgeous picture of the duchess smiling, which is from a roundtable discussion on gender equality from Oct. 2019, the future king and his wife wrote: "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday."

The birthday wishes from many members of the royal family show that despite the tensions that have been reported in the royal family of late, civility is still of the utmost importance. Although the public doesn't know exactly the details of Markle's special day, it's likely that the messages from the fellow royals will mean a lot to her and Harry.

Despite reports that Markle was planning a small birthday bash at her Montecito home planned by Colin CowieOprah Winfrey's go-to guy for events, it's been clarified that the event is "absolutely not happening," according to Page Six. Instead, the couple is expected to keep things quiet as they're still on parental leave.

A quiet birthday wouldn't be out of character for Markle, who has spent most of her birthdays in her late 30s in a very lowkey manner. Her 36th birthday saw Harry whisk her away to Botswana, Africa, where the charitable couple carried out conservation work with Elephants Without Borders

For her birthday the following year, they attended the wedding of friends, while the one after that was Markle's first as a mom, leading the young family to choose to spend a private day together at their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, before heading off to Ibiza on a holiday days after.

Then last year, Markle had another quiet birthday due to the Covid pandemic. Now a family of four with an infant in tow, it would make perfect sense if the Sussexes plan to stay at home in Montecito and just enjoy the day to themselves.

All the best to Meghan Markle on her special day! What do you think about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's birthday well-wishes to Markle? Be sure to pass this on so others can stay informed too!
