Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Cambridges have been using their social media platforms to connect with their fans. The royal couple has arguably adopted a much more relaxed approach on their Instagram page, something that they can thank their new social media strategist, David Watkins for.

The young social media guru had previously worked for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before their ultimate departure from their roles as senior Royals.

According to People, Watkins worked as a social media manager for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry until April 1, when the couple officially stepped down as senior Royals. The 27-year-old worked for the Sussexes for 10 months before being snatched by Kate and William.

Although it is unclear if he has already started working for the Cambridges, their profile has adopted a much more ‘relaxed’ feeling this month, which could be an indication that he has.

Kate and William have been using their profile to highlight causes they believe in as well as thank key workers who are currently at the frontlines against COVID-19. The couple posted a video last week featuring a phone call in which Prince William spoke to medical workers at two UK hospitals.

“We’d just like to say from the two of us how proud we are of all of you and how amazingly you are all doing under extreme circumstances,” The Duke is heard saying. “The whole country is proud of you — so thank you for everything you’re doing and all the hours you are putting in.”

In another post, the doting parents shared a video of their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, joining Britain on the streets to clap for medical workers across the country.

“To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you,” the video was captioned.

In their most recent post, the Cambridges shared a clip of a video call they had with schoolchildren whose parents are considered “key workers” amid the pandemic. Kate and William also spoke to teachers and staff at the Casterton Primary Academy to thank them for their hard work throughout these difficult times. In the clip, students showed the royal couple artwork depicting their parents.

“Thanks you very much, it’s great to meet the kids, they’re obviously having a really great time,” Kate told the teachers at the school.
