Prince William And Kate Middleton Are ‘Nervous’ About Prince George’s Future, Royal Source States

Being a member of the royal family comes with plenty of responsibilities and duties. The pressure to uphold the grace and elegance of the throne is constantly on the family members as they participate in royal engagements and their daily activities. With Queen Elizabeth II the reigning monarch, it is up to her to distribute such duties to the remaining members of the royal family. There are even more to carry out especially following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure in March 2020.

Along with being busy with constant royal engagements and duties, Prince William and Kate Middleton are raising their three adorable children: Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3. Raising their kids in the public eye is not always easy, especially since they have such a legacy to uphold.

While William and Harry were typically seen out and about with Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana during their childhood as their parents were busy with work, it appears that William has opted for a different parenting style. It’s become rare for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to be spotted out and about with their children, as they have tried to live their lives as privately and normally as possible.

Recently they have expressed their concerns about their eldest son’s future, as they are doing their best to raise him to be a normal child who just so happens to be an important figure in the royal family as he is in line to the succession of the throne.

The Prince’s Royal Future

Even though William and Kate have worked hard at keeping the personal lives of their children private, they have not shied away from sharing a picture every now and then of their growing sons and daughter. It’s become a tradition for William and Kate to post pictures of their children on their respective birthdays each year. On July 21, 2021, an adorable photo of George was uploaded to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's official Instagram page to celebrate the boy’s birthday the following day.

A royal source has revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are “nervous” about what the future holds for George, according to Woman and Home. With technology and culture constantly changing, the young prince is growing up in an era very different from the one his parents grew up in. William and Kate have already started trying to shield their children away from the spotlight as much as possible

The royal couple has grown to be extremely protective of their children as they have reservations about their kids growing up in an age of social media and rude comments from strangers on the internet, as per Woman and Home. “Times have changed since then,” a royal source explained. “There wasn’t social media or internet trolls when William and Kate were children.”

The concerned parents have already experienced harsh criticism and rude comments thrown toward them and their three children. During the England v Germany Euros in 2020, George was mocked online for wearing a suit at the game. Woman and Home reported that the incident gave the couple their first taste of the prince’s future, resulting in them shielding their son for as long as they can.

How The Cambridges Are Raising Their Eldest Son

However, royal correspondent Roya Nikkah called the parents’ decision “clever.” Speaking with The Royal Beat, Nikkah said, “It was a very clever way of introducing him to public duties at such a young age.” Nikkah added, “Getting him used to big crowds and knowing that he is being watched by millions of people — it’s quite a clever way of doing it.”

During his childhood, William and his brother Harry would typically be seen with their parents during various royal outings and engagements, but the former has since changed the direction of his own parenting style. “The Cambridges feel it’s necessary to shield George, Charlotte and Louis from the spotlight and have become cautious about the appearances (they) make,” a royal insider explained. The insider also added that they are especially “selective” with the events George attends.

Despite his title of being a prince and being third in line to the throne, George is just like any other child at home. According to royal sources, the Cambridge parents hope to keep it that way for as long as possible, as per Woman and Home. “He’s not called Prince George at school and is simply known as George,” the royal insider explained. “He mixes with children his own age.”

George typically spends his time playing board games, swimming, baking with his siblings, and playing football. William and Kate have done their best to hold onto this sense of normalcy and opt not to buy their children expensive gifts. The insider added, “Despite his future role, they don’t want him to grow up too quickly.”
