Prince William And Kate Celebrate Nephew Archie's Birthday With Cute Post

It's already been two years since Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born, and boy has the little guy grown.

Archie was born in the early morning of May 6, 2019, at the Portland Hospital in London. He was born and remains until now 7th in line to the British Throne.
For a boy with only two years under his belt, Archie has certainly moved around the world. Having been born in London, Archie moved with his parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, to Vancouver Island for several months before they moved back to Meghan's home state of California. Then, after both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working members of the royal family, the group moved to Los Angeles — a familiar place for former actress Meghan — in March of 2020. However, not satisfied with the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles life, Harry, Meghan, and Archie decided to settle in Montecito, Santa Barbara, for some more privacy. Having moved a countless number of times between three different countries and even having toured South Africa, the little toddler is certainly well-traveled, not to mention well-loved. 

For Archie's second birthday, many members of the royal family have decided to congratulate him with Instagram and other social media posts. To celebrate Meghan and Harry's firstborn, we're taking a look back at all the best photos of the little tucker his parents have blessed the public with thus far, as well as what Prince William and Kate Middleton have decided to share in honor of Archie's birthday this year. 

On the day of Archie's birth, his father, Prince Harry, addressed the public, announcing that his wife had given birth to a "very healthy baby boy," assuring everyone that both baby and mother were well and resting. 

Just two days later, the young family made their first outing as a unit, with the newborn making his debut as the newest member of the Royal family. That same day, Harry and Meghan Markle formally announced their son's name – Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

At just a little over a month old, the (no longer in use) Sussex Royal Instagram page shared a photo of Archie, clenching at Harry's finger. 

"Happy Father's Day! And wishing a very special first Father's Day to The Duke of Sussex!" the caption read.

Two months after his birth, on July 6, Archie was christened in an intimate ceremony at Queen Elizabeth's Private Chapel in Windsor Castle. 

To mark the special day, Harry and Meghan released two new photos of their son: One surrounded by his extended family and a second, more intimate shot with his parents. 

Archie Meets The Archbishop

It would be a couple of months before thirsty Royal fans would finally get to see another shot of Archie. In late September, however, Harry and Meghan finally blessed us with another photo taken on Archie's very first royal engagement as they toured South Africa. 

The photos showed the young family as they met the remarkable Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who was a prominent figure in the struggle against the Apartheid and remains a fierce activist for Equality and Human Rights. The family met with the Archbishop, who is also a Noble Peace Prize winner, and his daughter to discuss the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation. 

Shortly after their meeting, Tutu spoke to reporters and described Archie as an "old soul" and cheekily called him a "ladies man," as quoted by the Telegraph.

In the run-up to Christmas 2019, the Queen's Commonwealth Trust tweeted a sweet Christmas Card sent out by Meghan and Harry. The card featured a heartwarming, never-before-seen photo of Archie crawling up to the camera with his parents in the background. 

In their last post of 2019, Meghan and Harry shared a video filled with memorable moments from the year. 

The video featured a new photo of Archie held by his dad as they spent the holidays in Canada. In the Photo, Archie is seen wearing a CocoBear bobble hat designed by New Zealand charity Make Give Live. According to the Independent, the charity saw thousands of orders flood in within 48 hours after the photo was uploaded to Instagram, which prompted them to pause their orders in an attempt to avoid overwhelming their volunteers. 

Not A Prince

Unlike his cousins, the three children of Duke William and Duchess Kate, Archie does not hold a royal title. Because of a letters patent — which is a legal order of the monarch — from 1917, only certain people may have the title of "prince," and Archie sadly does not qualify. While the happy parents were given the option to choose the subsidiary, honorary title of Earl of Dumbarton for their son, they decided not to, according to Time Magazine. Harry and Meghan decided they wanted a more private life for little Archie. 

Now that Archie has turned two years old, Prince William and Kate Middleton have posted a special tribute to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Instagram account in honor of the occasion. The caption read:

"Wishing Archie a very happy 2nd birthday today. 🎈🎂"

Although Prince William and Duchess Kate are an entire ocean apart from Archie, we still feel the love they are sending Archie on his birthday. Happy birthday, Archie!
