Prince William and Duchess Kate Have an Adorable Laugh Over Their Golfing Fail While Visiting Charity

Apr 28, 2021 by apost team

On Tuesday, April 27, Prince William and Duchess Kate went back to their royal duties and visited the Cheesy Waffles Project in Durham, England. The organization tries to help and teach children and young adults with learning disabilities and other special needs and offers a wide range of courses, classes and self-help projects. The money for all those possibilities comes from official grants, donations, and fundraising organizations such as The Key. This UK charity, focusing on young children, teens and young adults, was one of the charities that benefited from William and Kate's wedding fund. So on Tuesday, William and Kate were able to see firsthand how the money they raised helped teens and children in County Durham.

The Cheesy Waffles Project offers sports classes as part of its many available courses. So the royal couple took to the modest green and had a wonderful time putting some balls. The experience was caught on video by Richard Palmer, royal correspondent for the Daily Express. Thanks to this footage, we are all able to enjoy the moment when Kate hilariously misses her swing. The Duchess started laughing herself almost immediately, and her husband and the children and charity workers happily joined in. Despite a few mishaps and fails, the couple still enjoyed their visit and time on the golf course - although we are sure the Cheesy Waffles Project would be happy to see them come again!

Read on to hear more about the royal couple's visit and see the charming footage of William and Kate sharing a laugh with each other.

The weather was slightly windy but otherwise fine when Duchess Kate and Prince William arrived at the Cheesy Waffles Project on April 27.

The project describes its work on its website as:

"Members have the opportunity to take part in residentials, trips away, shopping excursions, meals out, sports activities, cookery programmes, wellbeing, performing arts and more. This gives an opportunity to go out without support from family, giving respite to carers but also developing independent skills.
We encourage members to engage in community work making gifts for others, working with local trusts, fundraising for chosen charities, and supporting local community projects. This encourages self-esteem and confidence and raises their profile in the local community."

In this way, the organization has helped numerous special needs children gain important life experience and skills. William and Kate's instagram account shared a series of photos and a video of William trying his hand at a swing and added as a caption:

"Thank you to the Cheesy Waffles Project for the golf lesson 🏌️ Think we might need to come back for more...
The Cheesy Waffles Project does incredible work providing children, young people and adults with additional needs aged 7 to 35 from across County Durham with the skills and independence they need to transition to a happy and healthy adulthood."

Judging by the smiling faces and the laughter the royal couple shared, they very much enjoyed their visit. The reactions of the children in the video make it clear that they also enjoyed the chance to teach the two some golf moves.

The video shared by Daily Express reporter Richard Palmer on Twitter shows Kate receiving swing instructions from one of the children taking part in the project. She is clearly listening attentively to the little golfer, who seems to know what he is talking about. Despite the instructions, the Duchess misses on the first swing. Her golf club sails along above the ball by a good bit. Her young instructor is seen putting his head in his hands and grinning while Kate throws her head back and laughs uproariously. She obviously has no problem laughing about her own mishap, and many of the bystanders, William himself included, happily join in.

After her young instructor repeats a few explaining gestures, Kate swings again, and this time the golf ball shoots off across the green. The small crowd in the back reacts with happy applause for the Duchess' achievement.

Soon after, we can see a similar scene play out for William. He is listening to the same young golfer and mimicking his movements before taking a swing. Unlike Kate's first try, his goes off without a hitch, although his young instructor does not seem enthused with his form. When William squats slightly as he tries to imitate the slightly bended knees of the instructor, the young boy has to cover his face again as he laughs helplessly.

One of the commentators on Richard' Palmer's Twitter video had a rather poignant thing to say:

"LOL he didn't listen to his coach there...that was more a hockey swat"

Despite these small mishaps, the royal couple and the project members alike seemed to have a wonderful Tuesday.
