Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, is the longest-living member of the British royal family. She died at the age of 102 on October 29, 2004. Here she is in her early eighties in the garden of Barnwell in Leicestershire.

Hugo Vickers called Princess Alice "a very private person who was not widely known to the general public" despite being the third highest-ranking lady in the royal family at the time of her marriage. It was well known that she disliked large parties.

The second longest-living member is Prince Philip's mother-in-law herself, Queen Elizabeth I. Born in 1900, she celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by the royal family in 2000. She lived to be 101 years, 238 days, to be exact.
