Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 70-year reign as Queen of the United Kingdom and 14 Commonwealth realms in the first week of June 2022, although the true anniversary date was on Feb. 6, 2022. Celebrations culminated over a four-day bank holiday in the United Kingdom from June 2–6, which is when the Platinum Jubilee took place.
As expected, a number of notable moments occurred over the long weekend, including the Trooping the Colour ceremony, the Platinum Party at the Palace and various other smaller events.
But alongside Her Majesty, one member of the royal family who truly stole the show at the Platinum Jubilee was Prince Louis. The youngest member of the Cambridge family, Louis always makes a statement as he's at the age where each time the public sees him, he's always grown a little more. This time was no exception, however, in true fashion for the young royal, Louis also made an impact with his antics.
The young royal first went viral for his reaction during Trooping the Colour. He went from cute and happy, as he waved to the crowd of fans below, to seemingly bothered by the loud noise of the RAF planes and helicopters that roared overhead during the special flypast. However, he topped his own hijinks later in the weekend when he went viral once again for his reactions during the pageant.
On top of that, Louis also appeared to be wearing a pretty familiar outfit. In fact, it looked just like one that his father, Prince William, wore more than 30 years ago!

The palace had chosen to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June rather than February in the hope of better weather, and the four-day bank holiday began on June 2, 2022. Trooping the Colour was planned for that day, as well as the lighting of the Platinum Jubilee beacons across the UK.
It was during the royal family's tradition of coming out on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the crowd below that Louis first made an impression. He happily waved at the crowd at one moment before he began to pull funny faces at everyone below.
When the RAF flypast took place, Louis' mood seemed to have changed quickly, as he put his hands over his ears and appeared to let out a yell. Surrounded by his mother and grandmother, Louis wasn't the only child to cover his ears, as Princess Charlotte did too. Nevertheless, he stole the show that day, despite crowds being delighted to see the queen during her big celebration. The internet made no secret of their love for Louis' antics, but he certainly wasn't done.
During the pageant, Louis' face included a whole range of emotions, from boredom and uninterest to cheeky messing around with his mother. Seated next to one another, Kate Middleton and Louis even had a little face-off, as the youngster grabbed his mother by the chin, before he put his hand over her mouth to shush her!
He followed that up by sticking his tongue out at her and poking a number of other cheeky faces at her. Middleton took it in her stride, as any mother would do, and by the end, Louis appeared to have calmed down, as he even gave his mom a kiss and cuddle.

Louis also made headlines for wearing an outfit that looked very reminiscent of William’s childhood. According to TODAY, the 4-year-old wore what appeared to be the same mini sailor suit that William had worn to Trooping the Colour back in 1985.
According to Tatler, there is a history of royal children wearing sailor suits that dates back to Queen Victoria’s time. She had commissioned a sailor outfit to be made for her son Prince Edward, and wrote about the occasion in her diary:
“Bertie put on his sailor’s dress, which was beautifully made by the man on board who makes for our sailors. When he appeared, the officers and sailors who were all assembled on deck to see him, cheered, and seemed delighted.”
Since then, many royal kids have worn these outfits, including King George VI, King Edward VIII, William and Louis. The Trooping moment in 2022 wasn’t the only time that Louis has given royal fans a blast from the past. Back in 2019, Louis made his balcony debut in an outfit consisting of a blue and white shirt with matching shorts that was first worn by Prince Harry in 1986.
Prince George has also worn one of his father’s pieces before. When he made his Trooping debut in 2015, the young prince wore a baby blue romper similar to William’s, which he had also worn for the same procession. Charlotte has also been seen wearing a sweater previously worn by George.
The whole world had its eyes on the United Kingdom over the course of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration, and while it meant a lot to see Her Majesty make multiple appearances in honor of her 70-year reign, there's no denying that Louis stole the hearts of the people.
