The curious eyes of the world’s royal observers are always eager to catch moments of genuine humanity. While the royal children are often the most beloved, 7-year-old Prince Louis is perhaps the most entertaining. Although his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, have given us their fair share of amusement, the antics of little Prince Louis remain undefeated.  At the 2025 VE Day parade, the youngest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales once again proved he was a natural scene-stealer when he was caught tugging playfully on his father’s uniform during the formal royal engagement.

The setting was quintessentially regal: Prince William, dressed in full ceremonial uniform, stood at attention as part of the British monarchy’s public display as the royal family gathered to commemorate the 80th Victory in Europe Day celebrations. This time, the royals gathered in London at the iconic Buckingham Palace. But the seriousness of the occasion was delightfully interrupted by a small, mischievous hand. Brimming with childlike curiosity and joy, Prince Louis reached out and gave his father’s elaborate attire a gentle pull, much to the amusement of onlookers and photographers alike. The Prince of Wales had donned his RAF No.1 uniform, and in addition to his funny mischief on the day, Prince Louis did not hesitate to tug on the elaborate braid of his father’s uniform. In true royal fashion, Prince William appeared unfazed by his youngest son’s antics and continued his conversation with dignitaries.

Many observers and royal watchers who watched the VE Day celebrations in London couldn’t help but be amused by Prince William and Princess Catherines youngest son. The day was full of cute moments from the royals that we wouldn’t have known about. However, a lip reader was able to break down the conversation for curious audiences. Lip reading expert Nicola Hickling noted that when Prince Louis started brushing raindrops off his father’s shoulder, William remarked:

“Look at this, I think it’s going to be quite wet today.”

Presumably bored with the day’s seemingly never-ending events, Louis then asked his father:

“Wasn’t this supposed to be fun?”

To which the Prince of Wales patiently responded:

“It is son.”

Throughout the day, Prince William tried his best to keep the young prince attentive and entertained, even telling him, “you will never forget this.” He then went on to explain the procession to his son, and the lip reader deciphered him saying:

“They will come along here, and then go towards there, and then we will make our way back.”

However, Prince Louis seemed far from engaged, prompting his father to tell him:

“It’s not going to be long, and I want you to be taking an interest.”

It wasn’t just Prince Louis who was having a difficult time concentrating on the VE Day celebrations, as Hickling observed Prince George informing his father:

“I’ve got something in my eye.”

On a sweeter note, Hickling also caught a conversation between Princess Catherine and her only daughter, Princess Charlotte. The Princess of Wales shared an adorable compliment for her husband with Charlotte, 10.

“Doesn’t Papa look smart today?” the Princess of Wales asked.

While the day was long, the little ones definitely kept us entertained.
