Princess Catherine had a special reason to observe World Cancer Day in 2025, following her recent cancer battle and the good news that she was in remission. The Princess of Wales, 43, announced in 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery. She then underwent preventative chemotherapy, spending months away from the public eye and putting her royal engagements on hold.

However, following the joyous news that she was now in remission, Princess Catherine has gradually been returning to the public eye. She commemorated World Cancer Day on Feb. 4, 2025, with a candid picture of her in the forest with the sun shining through the tall trees. In the image, the Princess could be seen smiling with outstretched arms. Her gloved hands and olive green trenchcoat matched the dark hues of her outfit, which also comprised equestrian boots, dark pants and a scarf. The caption read:

“Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease. C.”

Many social media users were excited about the picture and felt touched by Catherine’s heartwarming words of encouragement. However, it wasn’t just the subject of the photograph that caught people’s eye.

The photographer’s identity instantly grabbed the internet’s attention. The credit for the photograph was attributed to none other than Princess Catherine’s son, Prince Louis. The young Prince, 6, is the youngest of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children, after Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 9.

Princess Catherine’s World Cancer Day Instagram picture, taken by Prince Louis, received much positive feedback online, with social media users expressing delighted surprise at the reveal.

According to Kensington Palace, the picture’s setting in the forest was meant to show how spending time surrounded by nature has had a beneficial impact on Catherine amid her recovery. It was even made sweeter by the fact that photography skills also run in Prince Louis’ genes, as Princess Catherine is known to be an avid photographer. The Princess of Wales has been known to enjoy amateur photography and has even shared images she’s taken of her husband, Prince William, and their three children.

Unsurprisingly, fans were delighted to see Prince Louis already starting to follow in his mother’s footsteps. Many instantly shared their opinions in the comments section of Princess Catherine’s photo.

“What a great shot!! Love seeing the world through children’s eyes!! 🧡🧡,” one user remarked.

Another person also expressed their joy at the mother-and-son bonding element in the picture, writing:

“Touching and darling that your son took this pic what a great memory he will have that he was the photographer!☺️”

Many complimented Prince Louis knack for photography, including one user who remarked:

“What an awesome photo taken by your youngest son Prince Louis ❤️ he definitely has your love for photography Catherine ❤️🥹 well done little Lou Bug 🐛”

After a challenging year with health issues, it is great to see the royal family making a positive comeback. Most importantly, it’s adorable to see Prince Louis pursuing a unique hobby he can enjoy and share with his mother.
