Prince Harry Spotted In London Before Reuniting With William At Princess Diana’s Statue Unveiling

Prince Harry arrived in the UK after he was pictured in the evening boarding a flight to London to attend the unveiling of a statue of Princess Diana. Daily Mail reported that Harry arrived at London Heathrow Airport at 12:38 PM on June 26, 2021, on a Boeing 777-323 on American Airlines flight AA134, which left Los Angeles International Airport last night at about 7 pm local time. Express UK reported that a spokeswoman for Harry confirmed he had arrived "safely" at his private residence Frogmore Cottage, which is close to Queen Elizabeth's Windsor Castle home.

Since his arrival, Harry has been isolating at Frogmore Cottage, which used to be his and Meghan's official residence when they lived in the UK. Currently, Princess Eugenie lives there with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their newborn son August.

He was spotted in London after finishing his quarantine, and in a photo obtained by Us Weekly, he looked quite pensive as he made his way to Kew Gardens on June 30, 2021. He is set to reunite with William for the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue on July 1, 2021, the day that would have been her 60th birthday.

Tragically, Diana was just 36 when she died in a car crash on Aug. 31, 1997, in Paris, France. At the time, her sons Prince William and Prince Harry were just 15 and 12 years old respectively.

William and Harry have worked hard to preserve their mother's legacy both symbolically but also throughout their own charity work as parts of the royal family. Both brothers have taken carried on Diana's legacy in terms of being outspoken about mental health.

However, both brothers have taken drastically different paths in their life; while William has stuck to his duty, Harry took the unconventional path and left behind his role as a senior royal, opting instead for a life in the United States with his wife Meghan Markle. His controversial decision has led to a major rift in the family.

The already existing tensions between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the royal family were further exacerbated due to their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, followed by their role in the Apple+ Docuseries "The Me You Can't See."

The official unveiling of the statue will be Harry's first time seeing his family since Prince Philip's funeral in mid-April. An official "Sussex source" revealed to Harper's Bazaar that Meghan Markle won't be joining her husband for the event and will focus on caring for the couple's infant daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor at their Montecito home instead.

The Mirror had initially reported that Kate will help her husband William and his brother Harry put on a united front for the occasion. However, new reports show that Kate has been removed from the guestlist for the unveiling. The Sun reported that this means that Harry and William will be meeting without a "peacemaker" around them.

Metro UK also reported that Harry also does not have plans to meet his brother or his father when he arrives in the UK. Harry is expected to be in quarantine for five days, and Charles is expected to be on a trip to Scotland by the time Harry leaves quarantine.

A source told the Sun, "Charles will leave the boys to it. Harry will need to quarantine for at least five days when he lands in England, most likely at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. Charles has made it quite clear he will not be around beyond that because he is going to Scotland. There is no planned meeting between the three of them."

Geo.TV reported that a friend of Charles said, "He does find it terribly difficult. These moments have the potential to resurface old wounds, and it brings back memories for him; happy, sad, regretful." They also added, "Since Diana’s death, he has felt it’s best to keep those memories to himself and leave his sons to it."

As for Harry's relationship with William, a different source said, "The relationship is still very much strained and there’s no sign yet that there will be any sort of coming together any time soon. The boys will walk out together out of respect for their mum."

Reuters reported that royal commentator Penny Juror said about the upcoming reunion, "I think it's going be very awkward. They will put on a show because the cameras will be there, but neither of them is very good at hiding their emotions."

With neither Kate nor Meghan joining their husbands, only time will tell whether the brothers will be able to mend their relationship. However, other members of the royal family may try to heal the inflamed rift between the brothers in their own way. Queen Elizabeth has already extended an "olive branch" to Harry and Meghan and has invited them to her Platinum Jubilee.
