Prince Harry offered a rare glimpse into his relationship with his 5-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, during a heartfelt appearance at the 2026 WellChild Awards.

The seemingly small detail offered a rare glimpse into the father-daughter relationship Harry has largely kept private.

Since welcoming Princess Lilibet in June 2021, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have been notably protective of their children’s privacy, sharing only occasional photographs — without any glimpses of their faces — and snippets of their family life. Lilibet’s fifth birthday in June, however, brought another glimpse of the little girl, with Meghan sharing photographs of the family to mark the occasion.

It’s a glimpse that fits with the way Harry has spoken about fatherhood in recent years. Although Archie and Lilibet rarely appear publicly, the Duke frequently references their personalities, hobbies and everyday lives when speaking during his charity work.

Earlier this year, for instance, Harry revealed that both children enjoy watching the British children’s program “Junior Bake Off.” He has also described Archie as being “obsessed” with Lego, calling his son a “master builder.”

More recently, Harry revealed another detail about the children’s life following the family’s return to Britain. Archie and Lilibet have apparently developed a taste for Marmite on crumpets — something Harry jokingly described as a major victory after his children once “used to diss” him for keeping Marmite in the house.

Those little revelations paint a picture of a father who is closely involved in his children’s everyday lives, even while keeping them largely away from the spotlight.

The Duke of Sussex was in London on Sept. 21, 2026, for the annual ceremony, where he spent time meeting inspirational children and their families. But while chatting with 6-year-old award winner Margot Jones-Billington, Prince Harry couldn’t help but bring his own children into the conversation — revealing an adorable detail about Princess Lilibet’s personality.

As Harry noticed Margot’s glittery shoes, he told her:

“You obviously love sparkles.”

He then explained that his own daughter shares her love of all things glittery.

“I have a boy and a girl who are 7 and 5,” Harry said, referring to Prince Archie and Lilibet. “My little girl loves sparkles and she loves pink. That’s her favorite color.”

Harry’s comments at WellChild also highlighted how closely he pays attention to his daughter’s interests. Rather than simply mentioning Lilibet in passing, he immediately connected her personality with Margot’s, recognizing the little girl’s love of sparkles and pink as something familiar from his own daughter.

Harry’s appearance at the WellChild Awards was particularly poignant because his work with seriously ill children has long intersected with his experiences as a father. During the ceremony, he paid tribute to the parents caring for children with complex medical needs, acknowledging the emotional highs and lows they experience.
