After announcing they will be stepping back as 'senior' royals, Meghan and Harry said they will also be working towards becoming financially independent of the crown. With many speculating how the couple will earn their money, others forget how much money Prince Harry will already be leaving the royal family. Here's Prince Harry's net worth and how much the royal really makes: 

Prince Harry was born into one of the richest families in the world. According to Brand Finance, the British monarchy is worth £67.5 billion (about $87 billion). "The Monarchy’s tangible assets – the Crown Estate, the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall, and the Royal Collection, including the Crown Jewels – account for £25.5 billion. The intangible value understood as the present value of the benefits that the Monarchy is expected to bring the UK economy over the years constitutes the remaining £42 billion."

Princess Diana was reportedly worth $31.5 million at the time of her death. The money was to be split evenly among her sons Prince Harry and Prince William. However, Harry and William could not touch the full sum until they turned 30-years-old. They were each divided out $450,000 a year until they turned 30. Harry alone received between $10 - $15 million from his mother.

Diana's jewels were also given to Harry and William, Meghan's engagement ring was Diana's along with the aquamarine ring that she wore to their wedding reception.

Along with the inheritance Harry and William received upon the death of Princess Diana, the boys also received money from their great grandmother upon her passing. According to the BBC, Harry inherited more money than William because the Queen Mother believed William "will benefit financially by becoming king." The boys were set to share about $17 million from their great-grandmother. 

Prince Harry served in the army for 10 years and served two tours to Afghanistan. He received between $50,000 and $53,000 a year for his position as a helicopter pilot for the Army Air Corps. 

Prince Charles' net worth is said to be around $400 million according to Money. The bulk of his wealth is earned through the Duchy of Cornwall.  The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate that funds the activities of the title members and his family. According to a financial statement from the estate, Charles earned £16.6 million, or $22.9 million between 2016 and 2017.  The Duchy of Cornwall has $1.3 billion, in total assets including real estate available for rent. 

This estate earnings are also delved out to Harry and William's family's activities. 

All in all, Harry's estimated is worth is placed as low as $25 million and as high as $40 million according to Money. Business Insider says that both Harry and William have the same amount of net worth.
