In 2025, Prince Harry, 40, was beaming with pride over his wife, Meghan Markle’s, accomplishments that year. As Meghan, 43, re-emerged into the public eye earlier in the spring, Harry remained a steady and devoted supporter by her side. In March 2025, Meghan launched her Netflix docuseries, “With Love, Meghan,” followed by the debut of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, whose initial product line sold out in under an hour.
Harry’s commitment to his wife and their children continues to guide his actions, particularly in his legal efforts in the United Kingdom. The Duke of Sussex was a familiar face in courtrooms across London in early 2025, standing firm in his campaign against intrusive tabloid coverage.
However, the battle to regain his government-provided security, revoked in 2020 when he and Meghan stepped back from their royal roles, remained his most personal and pressing fight. As he left the Royal Courts of Justice on April 9, 2025, he said this fight “has always mattered the most.”
The stakes of this case go far beyond a legal technicality. For Harry, it was about safeguarding the well-being of his wife and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It was also layered with deeper emotional undertones – a potential path toward healing his strained relationship with his father, King Charles III.
While this legal journey reflected his fierce determination to protect his family, it may also represent one last hope for a personal reconciliation within the royal fold.

Amid the legal battles and emotional strain, Prince Harry remained focused on what mattered most: his family.
“I am so happy for my wife and fully support absolutely everything she’s done and continues to do,” he told PEOPLE, adding he was “incredibly proud.”
The rift between Prince Harry and King Charles remained unresolved, with tensions in the courtroom reflecting the deeper, personal estrangement between father and son. At the center of the legal fight was the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, which was responsible for denying Harry the security protections he had once enjoyed. Notably, King Charles’ advisers are closely connected to the committee, a detail Harry believes was far from coincidental.
From Harry’s point of view, the removal of his official security wasn’t just a bureaucratic decision – it felt like a deliberate tactic to pressure him and Meghan into staying within the confines of royal life. Instead of dissuading them, the move solidified his resolve. It became a breaking point, exposing what he saw as the palace’s willingness to assert control. That realization, he said, “was difficult to swallow,” and only appeared to worsen an already fractured relationship.
Harry believed his father, as the ceremonial head of state, could intervene at any time and reverse the decision. Yet, the palace has consistently declined to act, leaving the Duke feeling unsupported in his efforts to protect his family.
To Harry, the situation carried haunting echoes of the past. He drew a painful similarity to what happened to his mother, Princess Diana, who lost her police protection after divorcing Charles in 1996. Just a year later, she died in a car crash in Paris while being chased by paparazzi – protected only by private security.
