Prince Harry Opened Up About Life At Home With Baby Lilibet

Aug 10, 2021 by apost team

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, 2021. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex first announced that they were expecting their second child on Valentine’s Day in 2021, only to reveal the baby’s sex during the March 7 interview special “Oprah with Meghan and Harry.”

Despite the tension between Harry and the royal family, Lilibet's birth was welcomed and celebrated by the family members, who released a statement saying they were "delighted" by her arrival.

Lilibet's name is truly meaningful as all royal fans would know, and this was also addressed in a statement released by Harry and Meghan, "Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales."

ELLE reported that there were some reports after the name was announced that Harry had not asked the queen for permission to use "Lilibet," but a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed that this was not true. Following this, the couple also issued a legal letter to the BBC and accused the outlet of "false and defamatory" reporting for its story claiming Elizabeth wasn't consulted about the name.

The Sussexes have been living a relatively private life on their own terms since their move to the United States in 2020, and this has meant that they have been careful about what information they release about their children. However, during an appearance at the WellChild Awards in June 2021, Harry opened up about the struggles of raising two children at once since Lilibet's arrival.

As PEOPLE magazine was told by a source close to the couple, the queen was the first to meet little Lili via a video call. PEOPLE had already reported beforehand that Elizabeth had known Harry and Meghan wanted to pass her nickname down to their daughter beforehand.

According to the source of PEOPLE magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, "were very excited and couldn't wait to share that their daughter arrived" almost as soon as they returned to their home after leaving Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, which is situated not far from the family's home in Montecito, California.

It is not yet known when exactly the queen will meet her newest great-granddaughter in the flesh, but royal commentators are sure the occasion will come sooner than expected. Meghan and Harry will likely make their way back to the UK in June 2022 at the latest, as the Queen's Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated. It will mark her long-standing reign and historic 70 years on the throne as the UK's monarch and is expected to be the event of the year, pandemic permitting.

Harry and Meghan are both prominent figures in the media, but they are just like any other family who has expanded and is facing challenges with two infants at home. Archie turned two years old in May 2021, and with newborn Lilibet at home, Vanity Fair reported that Harry opened up about the "juggle" of raising two children to singer Ed Sheeran at the WellChild Awards in June 2021, where he attended a "private party in honor of the outstanding children and young people celebrated by the charity, as well as the healthcare workers who look after them."

According to Hello Magazine, Harry and Sheran caught up together and chatted, and the two even compared notes about fatherhood. Sheeran welcomed his daughter Lyra with his wife Chelsea Seaborn in September 2020.

The magazine outlet reported that Sheeran first extended his congratulation to the royal, and then said, "We just had a little girl ten months ago now. You're still in the trenches now! How do you manage with two?"

To this, Harry replied, "Two is definitely a juggle." Speaking to other people at the part, Harry was also heard saying, "Now as a father of two, I feel all the more connected, inspired and in awe of the resilience of these families, who power through indescribable challenges with the support of WellChild."

Harry opened up to another guest about baby Lili, adding that, "We’ve been lucky so far, she’s very chilled and seems happy to just sit there while Archie is running around like crazy."

Harry has been a patron of WellChild UK, which is a charity that supports and cares for young people who are ill as well as their families. According to the WellChild website, Harry is an invaluable patron for the charity and write, "The Duke of Sussex continually plays an active interest in the work of WellChild and has met with many of the children and young people, nurses, researchers and volunteers who have been involved with the charity."

The website also concluded, "We feel very privileged to have such a dedicated Patron and are excited about working together with him on future projects."
