Prince Harry Is 'Frantically' Working to Bring Meghan and Their Children to the UK

Prince Harry’s effort to bring Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the United Kingdom has placed family reconciliation and security concerns back at the center of royal attention. The Duke of Sussex, 41, has continued to make U.K. visits for charitable and public-service commitments, including work connected to the Invictus Games, while Meghan and the children have remained outside Britain during trips affected by protection questions. The situation has also renewed public interest in whether private family ties can be separated from the wider royal rift.

The issue is not simply whether the family has somewhere to stay. PEOPLE reported that King Charles had offered accommodation on a royal estate, while protection arrangements would not necessarily extend beyond that property. A spokesperson for Harry told PEOPLE, “The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit.”

According to PEOPLE, citing The Mirror, King Charles has asked senior aides to keep discussions open with the Sussexes in the hope of arranging time with Archie and Lilibet. The report also said Harry and Charles have held several private conversations, with the tone described by one source as hopeful. No confirmed visit by Meghan or the children has been announced.

The background is personal as well as legal. Harry lost his U.K. security appeal in May 2025, after challenging the way protection decisions were made following his and Meghan’s 2020 step back from working royal duties. After the ruling, he told the BBC, “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”

A meeting between King Charles and his Sussex grandchildren would carry emotional weight. Prince Archie was born in London on May 6, 2019, according to the Royal Family’s official website. Princess Lilibet was born in California on June 4, 2021, as announced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The children’s public connection to Britain has been limited since the family’s return for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.

Security has remained one of the most sensitive obstacles. Harry has argued that suitable protection is necessary for his family to visit safely, while British authorities have maintained a case-by-case approach for his security when he is in the country. That unresolved question shapes whether any visit can be more than a private, tightly managed stop.

There are signs of some communication between father and son. In September 2025, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry met King Charles for tea at Clarence House, a meeting Sky News reported lasted 54 minutes and marked their first face-to-face meeting in about 19 months. Harry later described the King as “great.”

Still, the reports do not confirm a full family reunion. They suggest a narrow path: private talks, a willing grandfather, a son seeking safer arrangements, and two young children whose relationship with their royal relatives has unfolded mostly from California.

For Harry, the question of bringing Archie and Lilibet to Britain is tied to more than travel logistics. It touches on family memory, public duty and the possibility of rebuilding trust after years of strain. For King Charles, any meeting with his grandchildren would be a rare chance to close distance inside a family whose divisions have become part of the public record.
