Prince Harry Hugs A Teenage Fan Against Royal Protocol

In 2018, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle started their trip to Australia with a walkabout at Melbourne’s Government House and were welcomed by many fans that were more than excited to meet the royal couple.

One fan, in particular, was eagerly waiting to see Prince Harry up close but little did she know that she would be getting closer than expected.

The 19-year old fan, India Brown from Marysville, was holding a sign that said “Been here since 4 am! Loved you since I was 8!!!”

She had been standing in front of Melbourne’s Government House for more than seven hours only to see the royal couple hoping to meet Prince Harry. Thanks to India’s handwritten sign her dream came true.

The moment Prince Harry noticed it, he walked straight towards India and even offered her a hug. The crowd went wild when Prince Harry bent down to hug India over the barricade who was overwhelmed with joy. ​​​

India later spoke to 7 News Melbourne: 

“I've loved that family since I was 8. I've followed them around the world. It was just such an opportunity and I just went for it,” She said. ”I didn't expect it to happen because it's actually against protocol, but it was just phenomenal. And he reciprocated the hug, too."
