Prince Harry Gets Emotional Compliment About Late Mother Princess Diana During Touching UK Reunion

Prince Harry received a heartfelt reminder of his late mother, Princess Diana, during a visit to Nottingham, England, where one well-wisher told the Duke of Sussex that he reminded her of the beloved royal.

Harry, 42, and his wife, Meghan Markle, 45, visited the city on Oct. 15, 2026, for one of their first joint public engagements since returning to the United Kingdom earlier that summer.

Harry’s dedication to charitable causes has often drawn comparisons with Diana, who was widely admired for her compassion and willingness to engage directly with people from all walks of life. Throughout her life, the princess championed causes that were frequently overlooked, including homelessness, HIV/AIDS and the campaign against landmines.

Like his mother, Harry has used his public platform to bring attention to issues close to his heart. Through his work with veterans, mental health initiatives and youth-focused organizations, he has continued to pursue causes that reflect his personal experiences and values.

The visit comes as Harry has also been speaking candidly about his relationship with grief and the lasting impact of losing Diana. In a MasterClass conversation about grief, he reflected on how suppressing his emotions for years affected his mental health.

Harry acknowledged that he once feared healing from his loss would mean losing his connection to his mother. Over time, however, he came to understand that processing grief did not require him to leave her memory behind.

His reflections have offered a rare glimpse into the personal challenges behind his public life, underscoring the enduring bond he feels with Diana nearly three decades after her death.

For Harry, being reminded of his mother by a member of the public may have carried particular significance during a visit centered on community, connection and charitable service. While the brief exchange was only one moment in a busy day, it highlighted how Diana's legacy continues to resonate with people who remember her warmth and humanitarian work.

During the outing, Prince Harry and Meghan met with local residents and several charitable organizations, receiving a warm welcome from crowds who had gathered to see them.

Among the memorable moments was a touching exchange that brought Diana to mind. According to PEOPLE, one well-wisher told Harry:

“He reminds me of his mother.”

The touching compliment offered a personal tribute to the late Princess of Wales, who died in a Paris car crash in August 1997 at the age of 36.

Harry was just 12 years old when he lost his mother, and her influence has remained an important part of his life. Over the years, he has continued to honor her legacy through his charitable work, particularly initiatives supporting young people and people facing difficult circumstances.

The Nottingham visit also allowed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to reconnect with a city that holds special significance in their relationship. The couple made their first joint public engagement there in December 2017, shortly after announcing their engagement.

Nearly nine years later, their return offered a chance to revisit familiar places and meet people who remembered their earlier visit. Harry and Meghan greeted well-wishers, posed for selfies and accepted flowers as they made their way through the city.

The visit included stops at community organizations working to support young people and strengthen local communities. At the Community Recording Studio, a charity offering creative activities, sports and mentoring, Harry continued his longstanding involvement with initiatives that help young people find opportunities and develop their talents.

Peter Bewley, CEO of Epic Partners, also spoke to PEOPLE about Harry’s commitment to the organization.

“For some of the young people we’ve got and some of the staff who’ve met Harry 10 years ago when they were volunteers, he’s been part of that journey and progressed all the way through,” Bewley said, adding, “Having that is really special for that long-term relationship rather than just being funded activity. You don’t get that with many stakeholders in the charity world.”

As Harry and Meghan continue to build their lives and charitable commitments in the U.K., the comparison serves as another reminder that the late princess’s influence remains present in her younger son’s life.
