Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has long been celebrated for his wit, charm, and unwavering dedication to the causes closest to his heart. From his humanitarian work to charity outreaches, Prince Harry has created a legacy of kindness and empathy for those in need. In this way, he embodies the spirit of his late mother, Princess Diana.
His role as founder of the Invictus Games — a global adaptive sports competition created for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and war veterans — showcased both his commitment to veterans’ welfare and also his ability to connect with people through humor and relatability, even in their darkest periods.
In a skit for the 2025 Invictus Games, Harry once again proved why he’s one of the most beloved modern royals by pulling off a lighthearted prank: pretending to get a tattoo. The skit also features rapper and singer Jelly Roll, the headline performer for the Invictus Games closing ceremony in February 2025.
In the video, Prince Harry is scheduled to meet up with Jelly Roll at the tattoo parlor to convince him to perform at the Invictus Games. Jelly Roll confirms his performance at the Invictus Games in Vancouver on the condition of what seems to be a misunderstanding that Prince Harry gets his first tattoo from him. Hilariously, Jelly Roll sat in the tattoo artist’s chair while Harry was perfectly positioned in the other chair. All in all, it made for a funny promotion for the 2025 tournament.

The video began with Prince Harry waiting for Jelly Roll, who then walked in and eagerly greeted the Duke of Sussex.
“Hey, hey! Tattoos! Speaking of! What’s up! I’m such a fan, dude. Do you know I could not believe it when they called me and told me Prince Harry wanted to get a tattoo today? They wanted me to give him his first tattoo? This is the coolest thing ever!” the “Save Me” singer said to a clearly shocked Prince Harry.
Jelly Roll explained that he was there to give Prince Harry an Invictus Games tattoo, while Harry clarified that he was simply there to convince Jelly Roll to perform. Eventually, they struck an interesting deal: Jelly Roll would perform at the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games if Prince Harry allowed him to give him his first tattoo.
“I’ll play the Invictus Games, you just let me give you your first tattoo,” he insisted.
Prince Harry reluctantly agreed, but the fun doesn’t end there. From not being sure his “tattoo artist” is experienced enough to disagreeing on the tattoo placement and getting more than he bargained for, the Duke of Sussex ended up exclaiming when he saw the final result:
“What’s that? Dude, it’s enormous!”
To which Jelly Roll responded:
“The Invictus Games are enormous!”
Prince Harry then spotted Jelly Roll’s name at the bottom of the “I Am” Invictus logo tattoo, making the tattoo read, “I Am Jelly Roll.” Like Queen Elizabeth II’s comedic video promoting the London Olympic Games in 2012, this video was a similarly fun way for a royal family member to support a cause close to their heart. At the very least, we now know why Prince Harry was spotted visiting the high-end tattoo shop in September 2024.
