Following a six-week-long hiatus, Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle have attended their very first official royal engagement of 2020 in London.

To kick start their new year, the Sussexes visited Canada's High Commissioner in London, her Excellency Janice Charette, as an expression of gratitude toward Canada for the hospitality they experienced during their visit.

The Royal couple arrived at Canada’s high commissioner’s office in London this afternoon, where they met Her Excellency Janice Charette along with her staff and thanked them for their hospitality during their visit to the country.

According to the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their appearance less than 24 hour following the official announcement from Buckingham Palace.

Prior to their appearance, Markle and Prince Harry reportedly paid a private visit to The Hubb, a Grenfell community kitchen project with which Markle collaborated with on the cookbook ‘Together’.

Last November, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex completed their last public royal engagement together on Remembrance Sunday before embarking on a six week trip to Canada. The couple travelled to the Northern-American country in order to spend the holidays with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

During their trip, to celebrate the turn of the decade, Meghan and Harry shared a video looking back at their year that featured a never-before-seen photo of their 8-month-old son, Archie.

“We’ve loved meeting so many of you from around the world and can’t wait to meet many more of you next year. We hope 2020 brings each of you health and continued happiness," they said.
