Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Aren't Moving to Canada, But Want To Have Longer Trips In More Countries

Rumors were circulating that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were planning on moving to Canada, however, a royal source has put that gossip to rest. After just wrapping up their royal tour in Africa, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were said to be considering a move to North America, but now the news is they would just like more time in more countries. 

The source who is close to the couple told ET, that Meghan and Harry are "looking very seriously at spending extended periods of time in Commonwealth countries in their role as Commonwealth Ambassadors."

The news comes after the royals finished their 10-day tour in Africa where they highlighted a number of organizations aiming at empowering young women, education, as well as continuing Princess Diana's land mine work.

Some of the commonwealth countries Meghan and Harry hope to spend their time include Africa, Canada, Australia and the Caribbean. 

"They will start in Africa or the Caribbean where Harry has spent lots of time, probably Africa first because that’s nearest to his heart," the source said. "Australia and Canada are the two big ones, but they want to spend time where the need is more obvious and therefore Southern Africa is more likely."

The reasoning to have extended trips in these commonwealth countries is to be able to focus more on these communities.

"The idea is it's really a step beyond the traditional royal visit; an opportunity to have some roots and time in a place, so that [they] can focus more in-depth and interact in the community as [U.K.] Ambassadors," the source said. 

The source continued to say, "While details would naturally be formalized over time, with Harry and Meghan's role as President and Vice President, respectively, of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust, any relocation for an extended period of time would be an opportunity for them to work in their already established humanitarian roles."
