Prince George Turns Heads at Wimbledon as the Future King Stands Tall Beside His Family
Jul 13, 2026 by apost team
Prince George has been growing up in public — and on Sunday, July 13, 2026, at the Wimbledon men's singles final, the cameras made the point more clearly than any royal announcement ever could. He is 12 years old, and by every available photograph, nearly as tall as his mother and heading for something considerably taller.
George attended the men's final at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club alongside his parents and his sister Princess Charlotte, 11. The family sat in the front row of the Royal Box, watching Jannik Sinner defend his title — the Italian world No.1 won for the second consecutive year, and Catherine, in her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, presented him with the trophy to a standing ovation.
In a navy suit, pale blue shirt, and striped tie — coordinated almost exactly with his father — George sat beside William looking, as Hello! Magazine put it, "every inch the young gentleman." The photographs of the two of them side by side were widely shared. So were the photographs of George standing next to Charlotte, whom he now visibly towers over. And the photographs of George in brown-framed sunglasses and a branded Wimbledon fedora, fanning himself with a handheld fan as temperatures reached 29°C on Centre Court.
Royal watchers have been tracking George's height with particular intensity since Trooping the Colour in June, when he was photographed next to his mother wearing heels and was only centimeters shorter. "I still can't get over how tall he's gotten," one fan wrote on X.
"The fact that Prince George is almost as tall as his mum in heels!"
The height, however, was only part of the story on Sunday.

In one moment captured by photographers, George was seen making Charlotte laugh as he adjusted his hat — their mother watching the exchange with visible delight. In another, George and William shared a quiet smile while William adjusted his tie, the two of them clearly at ease in each other's company. And as Catherine walked onto the court to present the trophy, George, William, and Charlotte leapt to their feet alongside the rest of the crowd to give her a standing ovation.
It was, as Hello! Magazine described it, "a sweet moment that showed just how tight-knit the Wales family is."
George is heading to Eton College in September 2026 — a transition royal expert Richard Eden confirmed in the Daily Mail in June. Royal author Robert Jobson told Hello! that "George going to secondary school will be an emotional time for them." His godfather, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, speaking on Hello!'s A Right Royal Podcast, described the move as "very much in the spirit of the way William and Catherine are trying to bring him up — to give him as normal a life as possible."
What Sunday offered was a glimpse of the young man Eton will receive in September. Confident, composed, laughing with his sister in the front row of the Royal Box, fanning himself in the heat, wearing a navy suit that matched his father's. Growing up, in public, one Wimbledon at a time.
