The seven-year-old became an instant celebrity when he was born. Sky News reported back in 2013 that on the new parents' evening together away from a then two-month-old George, William admitted during a speech at a black-tie awards dinner hosted by the Tusk Trust that they were armed with mobile phones "to check all is well back home."

To a ripple of laughter and applause, he added: "As you might have gathered, Catherine and I have recently become proud parents of a baby who has a voice to match any lion's roar!"

On Tuesday, @kensingtonroyal shared a photo of George, taken by The Duchess herself, to commemorate his special day that was approaching. It read: "Sharing a 📸 taken by The Duchess ahead of Prince George’s seventh birthday tomorrow!" The post has almost 1.1 million likes, as of this writing.

George’s birth in 2013 was a global news event which saw hundreds of reporters camped outside the hospital to cover his arrival. According to The Times, commemorative coins were issued by the Royal Mint, Royal Canadian Mint, and Royal Australian Mint special for the occasion. It was the first time a coin had been struck by the Mint to mark a royal birth.

His anticipated birth promises for an even more highly anticipated ascension to the throne. In the meantime, William still needs to figure out how to keep his firstborn from getting too much screen time. At Paddington Station in 2019, William shared with a young boy George’s fascination with The Lion King and Lego films, and that “trying to keep him off the television is hard work," as per The Daily Mail.
