Prince Charles Posts Throwback Black-And-White Photo With The Queen At Clarence House

Mar 25, 2020 by apost team

This last Sunday was Mother's Day in the UK and what better way to honor one's mom than by posting a touching photo and message on Instagram. That's exactly what Prince Charles did via the official Clarence House Instagram account.

He shared a stunning black-and-white image of him as a young boy along with his mother, Queen Elizabeth, on the grounds of Clarence House.

The stunning image is beautifully shot and framed, with the young boy standing in front of his mother as she stands beside a column in the garden of Clarence House, with a manicured lawn behind them. Holding a leaf out to the distance, young Charles has the sweetest smile on his face, appearing very happy as he plays with his mother. Both of them are immaculately dressed, donning fashion of the day, with Charles in a pea coat and Elizabeth in a dress with pearls.

Captioned with a beautiful message, the post read: " Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day, particularly in a year when families may not be able to be together. A young Prince Charles plays in the Clarence House garden with his mother, Princess Elizabeth, in 1950." The sweet message manages to both honor Queen Elizabeth, while making a touching comment on the separation that some families are facing due to the current global crisis.

Commenters were touched by the post, writing things such as "That's too gorgeous for words. I think Charles was just so divine as a little boy," and "What a beautiful photo to accompany a lovely post." Another follower noticed a family resemblance between Charles and his grandson, writing "Sooo cute, a little bit like George <3."

Throwback photos are a rare sight on the Clarence House Instagram page, making the gesture an extra special one to comfort us all as we face the coronavirus pandemic. In light of the crisis, both Prince Charles and the Queen have taken extra precautions. Charles has been working remotely with his team over the last few days, while the Queen is presently at Windsor Castle for her Easter break, alongside the Duke of Edinburgh. She was expected to travel there in one week but left early as a precaution.

Queen Elizabeth had released an official statement on Instagram days earlier, stating: "Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe. I am certain we are up to that challenge. You can be assured that my family and I are ready to play our part."

Even the royal family aren't unaffected by the current crisis, but it's encouraging to know that they are thinking of everybody during this time and doing their bit to help us all feel a little more connected.
