When it comes to getting ready for the holiday season, it’s easy to get wrapped up in all of the fun and excitement of planning a nice dinner with the family and buying gifts for all of your loved ones. Putting up decorations and spreading joy is all part of the merriness that comes along with this time of the year, and people typically do all they can to spread as much happiness and cheer to as many people as possible.

However, there are some people that sadly seem to be forgotten during the holiday season, and they are the people that need their loved ones the most. Our loved ones who are a bit older are the ones who crave the connection and magic Christmastime brings more than anyone else, and it’s important to remember them during this time.

Prince Charles and Camilla recently posted a photograph with an important message to their Instagram page. Their Christmas Celebration

On Dec. 23, 2021, the Daily Mail reported that the Queen would be joining Charles and Camilla and Windsor Castle for their own royal Christmas day celebration. The group is also likely to be joined by Prince Andrew and his former wife Sarah, the Duchess of York, along with their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

The holiday plans for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were unclear up until now, as they had spent Christmas in 2020 at Highgrove, their country estate in Gloucestershire, according to the Daily Mail. However, a spokesperson stated: “The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will be with Her Majesty The Queen on Christmas Day.”

The Queen was originally set to spend the day with her daughter Princess Anne and her son-in-law Sir Timothy Laurence, but the latter contracted Covid, meaning their plans had to be canceled. The Queen also canceled her pre-Christmas dinner at Windsor as a safety precaution.

The news of Charles and Camilla being joined by the Queen for Christmas day comes following a very important and sentimental post from the Clarence House, urging people to not forget about their elderly loved ones this holiday season.

On Dec. 17, 2021, the Clarence House shared a post on Instagram of Charles and Camilla standing in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and captioned the stunning photograph with an even more beautiful and important message. The caption read, “This Christmas, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall encourage you to remember your older friends and relatives over the festive season.”

An Important Message

Charles and Camilla also included some important statistics and resources about elderly people during the holiday season. The post’s caption read, “Did you know almost 1.5 million older people feel more lonely at Christmas than any other time of the year? @Age-UK and The Silver Line’s #BrighterChristmas campaign supports those who may be lonely this year.”

The caption continued:

“The Prince is Patron of Age UK, a charity that supports older people throughout the UK, and The Duchess of Patron of The Silver Line, which provides a 24 hour helpline for older people to call for information, support or just a friendly chat.”

The Instagram post received over 96,000 likes and plenty of positive comments, thanking the Clarence House for their sweet reminder during this time. One person commented, “That’s a great reminder. Merry Christmas and your tree is magical.” Another person said, “I always remember my older friends and relatives. We always get together for Christmas: they are never alone. The more the merrier.”

More and more people left comments expressing their gratitude toward Charles and Camilla for urging people to not forget about their older loved ones, and also commented on how stunning their home looked for the holidays. Another person said, “Such a beautiful photo with such a beautiful reminder!”

Age UK also left a comment, saying, “Thank you so much for the support. Everyone at Age UK wishes you both a very Merry Christmas!” On its website, Age UK also reminded people to not only remember their loved ones during the holiday season, but on every day during the year.
