Pregnant Mom’s Life Changes After Ellen Cuts Into A Massive Surprise Cake

Ellen Degeneres is up to her usual tricks again! The popular daytime show host who is known for surprising extraordinary people with generous gifts and help couldn’t resist bringing a mom of six boys on her show after her gender reveal video went viral on YouTube.

Cher and Stephen Lair never planned to have such a big family, but after their goal of three children had been born, the parents felt that having more just felt like the right thing to do. The busy parents had six boys ranging in age from 13 to 2, and a house full to the brim of boys clothes and toys.

However, Cher hoped and prayed to have a baby girl, and started collecting girl clothes in a small box. But once the sixth boy was born, she gave her box away.
 

The family had always felt that something was missing from their lives, and Cher knew in her heart that she needed the mother-daughter bond she’d had growing up. So when Cher became pregnant with their seventh child, she asked her friend to learn the sex results and make a “gender reveal cake.”

Gender reveal parties are a chance for the entire family to gather and learn the sex of an expecting family’s new baby. A friend or family member is asked to learn the results of the gender test, keep it secret, and order or bake a cake with inconspicuous frosting, but with either blue cake filling for a boy, or pink cake for a girl.
 

The tradition has risen to popularity in recent years, and Cher was looking forward to cutting into her seventh cake. Though she was hoping she may finally see the pink cake filling she had always dreamed about, Cher reported she had practiced her “blue cake face” for a few days prior to the reveal just in case!

So when the moment finally came, her friends had the camera rolling to capture her reaction and….the cake was pink!
 

Cher and Stephen had finally achieved their dream of adding a little girl to their family and were completely over the moon. However, raising six boys isn’t cheap and money was tight for the expanding family. The parents had a collection of hand-me-downs in all sizes, but they were all boy clothes.
 

Since Cher had given her small box of girl clothes away, the parents had to completely start from scratch. Cue Ellen! She and her team heard about Cher and Stephen’s story after they saw their viral video on YouTube and knew they had to help the family in some way. Ellen invited the parents to her show so they could talk about the joy of having a large and ever-growing family.
 

But in true Ellen fashion, she presented the Lairs with a reveal cake of her own. Pre-cut and ready to be served, Ellen lifted a slice with a gift that is guaranteed to support the family and their new baby girl.
