Pregnant Mom Goes Into Labor On Halloween Only To Discover Her Doctor Is Costumed As The Joker

Brittany Selph was expecting her third child on November 5. However, her baby wound up making her appearance almost a week early. In fact, she was born on Halloween and thus upended several people’s plans – including those of their obstetrician, who had obviously planned on some Halloween fun, given that he was dressed as the Joker from Batman.

On October 31, Brittany woke up to find that her water had broken a week early. She and her family went to the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tennessee and checked in at around 12:30 p.m. There they found their obstetrician, Dr. Paul Locus sporting the purple costume, disheveled green hair, and clown make-up of the Joker. More specifically, he was dressed as the Heath Ledger version of the character seen in the Batman movies.

Far from being upset at seeing their doctor in supervillain attire, the Selphs were delighted. Brittany actually laughed and later reported that the costume made her feel calm. Her husband Justin took pictures to post on social media.

After getting Brittany settled in, Dr. Locus left to make some rounds. He returned at 4 p.m. to check on her and found she wasn’t ready to give birth. He then announced his intentions to go home, pass out candy – and put on more professional garb. The Selphs were disappointed to hear the last part.

Brittany was ready to deliver at 8 p.m., and Dr. Locus came back, still wearing his Joker costume, to bring the newest Selph into the world according to Inside Edition. It was a girl and the family named her Oaklyn.
