Most of us would do anything to save a sweet little dog from being euthanized. Most people don’t want to see any animal being put down, especially when there is no logical reason for the animal to be on the euthanasia list.

One very kindhearted lady wasn’t able to stomach the fact that a certain little dog was about to be euthanized. She decided that it was up to her to take action. What she didn’t realize at the time was that she wasn’t only going to save one life. No, she was about to save an amazing 19 lives in all!

Ashlee Holland realized that a golden retriever-chow mix named Ava was about to be put down. She knew that she had to save the precious dog. Holland wholeheartedly believes that no pet should ever be put to death in order to make room for everyone else.

Holland spoke with Fox4News about her decision. She said that Ava was on the euthanasia list and had no other option. She said that she was her last resort. She stated that every dog deserves to live, regardless of the space the shelter has for them.

Holland knew that the rescue of Ava was urgent because of the fact that the dog was pregnant at the time. She was aware that Ava was about to have puppies, but all of the x-rays performed on the dog did not show just how many babies were there.

Holland is a mother herself and has always had a real passion for saving animals. She said that she has always wanted to have a job in the veterinary field. It is just pure instinct for her to want to care for animals.

She was able to bring Ava home just two weeks before she gave birth. When she did, Holland was shocked. Ava had been carrying 18 puppies! Incredibly, every single puppy survived and is doing well.

"It’s heaven. Puppy pile, you can’t get any better than that," Holland told WDAF Kansas City.

Her son named every puppy after some of the players of the Kansas City Royals. Holland created a special Facebook page in order to adopt out the puppies. You can see some of the incredible pictures here, as well as a video:
