Precious Sleepy Puppy Falls Asleep On Baby

In a video originally posted in 2012, Callie, a pit bull and Catahoula mix pup, was filmed adorably resisting the urge to get a shut-eye, a battle which she lost as she falls asleep on her human's sleeping baby.

When a little one needs a nap, it's sometimes just impossible to keep those sleepy eyes open. Whether it's a human or a canine baby, that little one requires a lot of sleep throughout the day, and these two babies show us how it's done.

Callie the puppy became affectionately known as "Sleepy Puppy" since the video was posted. It shows a peacefully sleeping baby and a puppy who just can't resist the calming effect of nap time.

The adorable video begins with the baby asleep on a blue blanket on the floor. Callie the puppy is sitting at the edge of the blanket, staring intently at the baby. But, as it often happens, staying too long in one position seems to make the puppy feel tired. The puppy's head and whole body start to sway a little.

After twitching her hears and looking up at the camera for a bit, Callie seems to give in to the swaying again for a minute. Catching herself, she decides to change positions, so she walks around the edge of the blanket for a while. But even then, she looks really tired as she walks.

She settles on a spot near the baby, then looks around for half a minute. Finally, Callie settles down into the coziest spot ever: right next to the baby, with her chin nestled on the back of the baby's head.

It's kind of incredible to watch these two babies together. The baby is only a few weeks old, and the puppy is definitely smaller than the baby, though probably older. But they seem to understand each other's need for space, and comfort, and especially sleep!

Interestingly, newborn babies and young puppies have one big need in common: lots of sleep! Human babies nap a lot during the day and require much more sleep than grown-ups. The same is true for puppies. Interestingly, both babies and puppies usually sleep 16 or more hours out of every 24.

So, watching these babies doze, you can tell they're working hard on storing up the energy needed to grow.

Not surprisingly, Callie and her human buddy stayed friends as they got older. They were babies together. And taking care of each other seemed to be their thing. They appeared in a video together a few years later, still good friends.
