Police Save Toddler After Mother's Bizarre 911 Call: 'My Kid Is Stuck In A Toy'

We call them the Terrible Twos for a reason. Curious toddlers know just enough to get themselves into a pickle, but not enough to figure out how to get out.

Parents are constantly stressing about how to keep such tots safe. Some kids, like Luca, get started on the Terrible Twos a hair early.

Twenty-month-old Luca's mom, Soona Choe, discovered the hard way that tots of that age can still get themselves into a surprising amount of trouble with just their toys. Luca managed to get himself inside a large activity cube, but then couldn't get out.

He was crammed into the cube up to his armpits, with his legs all folded up inside of it. He wasn't in pain, but he really was in a pickle.

With his knees up under the front lip of the toy and his back wedged against the back, he couldn't be pulled out without hurting him. He also couldn't get himself out.

His mom lacked the tools or know how to resolve the issue. At this point, she was starting to panic.

'"I call 911 and say "my kid is stuck in a toy" and they’re like "what kind of toy? What do you mean?'"

She already felt a little silly calling them, but she knew she had to do right by her child. Fort Lee police officer Sgt. Rick Hernandez arrived on the scene to rescue Luca from his predicament.

He quickly decided that the solution to the problem would be to break the front panel of the toy to give the boy more maneuvering room. The sound of the toy breaking caused his concerned grandmother to shriek in reaction.

All's well that ends well. Luca came out of the situation physically unharmed and seemingly none the worse for wear.

Although she took it very seriously, Soona Choe admits the incident was a little comical. She plans to rib Luca about it on his wedding day.

This is a good opportunity for all parents to stop and think about their home from a toddler's eye view. Cabinets too small for us to fit in make cool play spaces for them. Space under the bed makes nifty caves and tunnels to fuel their wild imaginations.
