Two Tukwila policemen have gained some distinctive nicknames in recent weeks. They have come to be known as Officer Bashful and Sergeant Modest. That's because of some actions they took while on patrol around Cascade Park. They saw something they just couldn't ignore and now people from near and far keep spreading the word about their reaction.

It's typical to see kids running around in the park. However, when these cops happened to come across such a scene one sunny day, one child caught their eye. They noticed something important missing from his wardrobe.

He was missing shoes.

Since kids often like to go barefoot, they looked around to see if perhaps the boy had tossed his off. They didn't see any on the ground.

As they drew nearer to the boy, they discovered he was wearing tattered socks and that one of them had quite a bit of blood on it. They noticed that he also had a large cut on the bottom of that foot.

The cops gently came over to the boy. He let Sergeant Modest inspect, clean, and care for his foot with supplies from a first aid kit. During this time they asked the boy why he wasn't wearing shoes. He told them it was because he had outgrown his last pair.

The concerned officers decided to help the boy. Sergeant Modest left to find him some new shoes. Officer Bashful stayed waiting with the group of boys.

When Sergeant Modest returned with a new pair of shoes he also brought the boys a surprise. Popsicles! It was an ideal treat for a warm summer day.

After tying the boy's shoes, the officers ate their refreshing snack with the boys before heading out on their way. When the Tukwila Police Department put this story on social media it quickly went viral.
