The Hildago County Sherriff’s office in Texas was changed forever when they took in one of their top K-9 officers, Argo the German Shepherd. Argo took on his new position in 2009 after he got his certification as a Narcotics Detection Dog.

The K-9 was partnered with LT Francisco Guerrero, a member of the force whose position only became stronger with the companionship of Argo. Argo quickly became a valuable contribution to the police force, and throughout his career successfully found and removed thousands of pounds of drugs from the area.

After serving the force for the better part of a decade, Argo’s health began declining when he was unfortunately diagnosed with bone cancer.

Although he tried his best to hide the pain and do his job, LT Francisco Guererro realized that the dog was actually suffering. Since Argo’s diagnosis was terminal, his partner realized that something had to be done. The police force realized that it was the best decision to put the dog to sleep before the diagnosis got worse and his pain heightened.

The officers collectively planned the date and decided to have a heartwarming and intimate ceremony for the dog’s final moments. While Argo’s partner and the rest of the police force gathered to say goodbye, the final moments of the ceremony left everyone in tears.

In law enforcement tradition, it’s customary to send one last call over the radio to congratulate someone on their years of courageous service. Although it’s time for the officers to say goodbye to the beloved dog Argo, you can feel the love radiating around him as he has his final moments.

His last radio broadcast is emotional, but you can tell Argo has a happy reaction to it in the video below:

We should all strive to be as brave and strong as Argo, the K-9 from Texas. Show this video to your friends and family if it brought a tear to your eye :)
