In an interview with Vanity Fair, Fletcher describes her interview with Kate as surreal and says that even though they were expected to only have ten minutes, they ended up speaking for more than half an hour. Fletcher said:

“I didn’t expect any of it, I’ve never heard her speak so openly before."

Kate used the podcast interview to sit down and talk about more private subjects and as a result, she has presented herself as more relatable than ever.

The premise upon which Kate sat down with Giovanna was to promote heer nationwide survey, 5 Big Questions. The survey, which is the biggest of its kind, has received many responses and focuses on her work with young children, specifically those under the age of five.

While many only see Kate's public persona, the podcast interview lets listeners in on Kate's relationship with motherhood. When Fletcher asked if Kate ever experienced mom guilt, the royal answered:

“Yes absolutely—and anyone who doesn't as a mother is actually lying! Yep—all the time, yep. And you know even this morning, coming to the nursery visit here—George and Charlotte were like ‘Mummy how could you possibly not be dropping us off at school this morning?’ But no it's a constant challenge—you hear it time and time again from mums, even mums who aren't necessarily working and aren't pulled in the directions of having to juggle work life and family life… and always sort of questioning your own decisions and your own judgements and things like that, and I think that starts from the moment you have a baby!”

Along with disclosing that she wasn't "the happiest of pregnant people," Kate confirmed rumors about using hypnobirthing and even joked:

“I’m not going to say that William was standing there sort of, chanting sweet nothings at me. He definitely wasn’t. I didn't even ask him about it, but it was just something I wanted to do for myself. I saw the power of it really, the meditation and the deep breathing and things like that, that they teach you in hypnobirthing, when I was really sick, and actually I realized that this was something I could take control of, I suppose, during labor. It was hugely powerful.”

Kate even recalled the terror she felt because she knew she would eventually have to face the entire world media after the birth of Prince George. Kate told Fletcher:

“Everyone had been so supportive and both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about and we’re hugely grateful for the support that the public had shown us, and actually for us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important. But equally, it was coupled with a newborn baby, and inexperienced parents, and the uncertainty of what that held, so there were all sorts of mixed emotions.”

A friend of Duchess Kate once told Vanity Fair that "motherhood has been the making of Kate," and the podcast interview confirms such a statement. Kate chatted with Fletcher like one would with an old friend, and ultimately revealed not just her royal side, but her relatable side as well.
