Bees are often villanized, but without them, humanity couldn't survive. One third of the world's food supply is pollinated by bees. Fortunately, Sir David Attenborough came up with a simple solution to save the bees.

Humanity Would End Within Four Years Of Bees Going Extinct

Sir David Attenborough, the host of 'Planet Earth' and 'The Blue Planet,' reached out to his Instagram followers to discuss the plight of the honey bee.

Over the last five years, the bee population has fallen by a third. Sir David Attenborough mentioned that this is the time of year when people see bees that look like they're dying. These bees are actually just exhausted, and they don't have the strength to fly home to their hive.

What Should You Do If You See An Exhausted Bee?

If you come across a distressed bee, mix two parts sugar with one part water. Put the mixture on a spoon and leave it within reach of the bee. After rehydrating, the bee will get back to doing what bees do; pollinating the planet.

Why You Should Help Exhausted Bees

While the life of a single bee might not seem like a big deal, that one bee plays an important part in your local ecosystem. One bee can pollinate 5,000 flowers in a single day! Being kind to bees can make an enormous difference in your local environment.

Spread the word about saving the bees, and encourage your friends to leave a spoonful of sugar and water outside this summer!
