Pittsburgh Zoo’s Busy Beaver Parents Welcome 7 Adorable Babies

American Beaver parents, Alice and Patch, recently welcomed seven new little kits into their life at the Pittsburgh Zoo. On the zoo’s Twitter account, they released an adorable video showing the new babies with their parents.

Thankfully Alice and Patch aren’t all on their own with taking care of the new kits. “One-year-old brothers Busy and Timber are helping their parents take care of their siblings. The kits are on the move as soon as they were born.” according to WPXI News.

The Zoo also said in their social media post,

“The little ones are spending most of their time inside their den with their family, but they grow quickly and they'll soon be exploring outside!”

Beavers are famously known for being busy, and boy did Alice and Patch live up to that stereotype! The species are known to be master engineers in building suitable homes for themselves.

“Felling and gnawing trees with their strong teeth and powerful jaws, they create massive log, branch, and mud structures to block streams and turn fields and forests into the large ponds that beavers love,” National Geographic reports.

If you ever wanted to spot an American beaver look for its most noticeable characteristic, it’s tail. The National Wildlife Federation states that American beavers tails are long, flat, and dark colored, they use it to help them swim at faster speeds and as an alarm sound. The beavers can slap their tails against the water to signal to others if something is distressing.
