Pit Bulls Become The Best Of Friends And Comfort Each Other In Shelter

Being in an animal shelter is a scary experience for most dogs and, generally, the canines simply want to stay by themselves until they become adjusted to the place; however, this is not always the case. Jukebox and Agatha are two pit bulls that used the shelter to form an amazing friendship.

The Pima Animal Care Center in Tuscon, Arizona first opened its doors to Jukebox when the pit bull was found as a stray. About a month after Jukebox arrived, Agatha’s owners brought her to the shelter when they discovered that they could no longer care for her. The two dogs met each other on the playground and shelter workers report that it was love at first sight.

Jukebox and Agatha hit it off instantly, wanting to hang out with each other.

“Typically when a bonded pair of dogs come in the shelter, they’ve spent their whole life together,” said Kristen Hassen-Auerbach, director of animal services, according to the Dodo.

“But with these two, they didn’t know each other. They met in a playgroup one day and from the second they laid eyes on each other they became inseparable.”

Not only do the two dogs play together, but they also cuddle at night. A picture of them sleeping together has made them an internet sensation with it being shared on Facebook over 12,000 times.

While they have plenty of room to stretch out by themselves, shelter employees explain that the dogs prefer to sleep together and that they seem to take immense comfort in the presence of each other. Although the shelter is usually ready to find each dog a home individually, they are going to make an exception where Jukebox and Agatha are concerned. Rather than separate them, the staff is determined that they are going to find a home where they can be adopted together.

After forming such a tight friendship, it seems cruel to even think of splitting them apart.

To help with the adoption process, the shelter points out that both the dogs are housebroken and, thanks to their love of food, would be easy to train. They have also waived adoption fees, making the entire cost of taking the pair home only $40!
