Pit Bull Rescued From Dog Fighting Ring Receives Love For The First Time

Everyone can agree that dogfighting is a horrible thing. Most people agree that those responsible for dogfighting rings should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

There are many different opinions, though, on what should be done with the dogs. When these rings are broken up and the dogs are rescued, what happens to them next?

Some people think that the dogs are beyond help and should be put to sleep. Others staunchly believe that the abused dogs should get another chance -- that they can be rehabilitated, and that they're just as deserving of love as other dogs.

One special pit bull named Rescue is proof of the latter. The two-year-old pup came from a dogfighting background. He was languishing in a San Bernardino pound, afraid of all of the noise and people around him.

One woman took the time to stop and interact with Rescue. As she approached his cage, he whined in fear and turned his head away. She continued speaking to him in a calm, sweet voice until he slowly wagged his tail.

Eventually, the woman reached through the bars. Rescue crept toward her and sniffed her hand. As she began to stroke his head and face, Rescue's tail started to wag. Soon, he was leaning his head toward her, pressing his head against the bars, eager to be shown more attention and affection.

Rescue's story has a happy ending. He was adopted from the pound, and his new owners are giving him all the love in the world.
