Although it's been two decades since Pink's debut single hit the Billboard Hot 100, the pop star is still shaking things up in the entertainment industry. The singer, who has brought us hits such as "Get the Party Started" and "There You Go," was born on Sept. 8, 1979, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
Pink, whose given name is Alecia Beth Moore, began her music career in a girl band. When that didn't work out, she went solo in 1999 at the age of 20 and has never looked back. Her first album, "Can't Take Me Home," was an instant success, going double platinum. The singer's career took off from there, and Pink spent the next decade establishing herself as one of the powerhouses in music. According to Billboard, she has 15 top 10 hits and is one of the bestselling US music artists today.
She has won three Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award, as well as seven MTV Video Music Awards, including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The singer has also sold over 100 million records, and because of this, she is one of the world's best-selling music artists of all time.
She became the second most-played female solo artist in the United Kingdom during the 2000s, behind only one artist — Madonna. Fittingly, Pink has named Madonna, along with Janis Joplin, as a major inspiration for her professional career.
Even in her 40s, Pink remains a household name, having been a presence in music since the nineties. She has also made her distinctive, raspy voice and tough, alternative exterior instantly recognizable.

Apart from being a trailblazer in the music industry, the punk rockette has also come to be known for her quirky hairstyles throughout her career. From pink to blonde to closer to a buzzcut- she's debuted it all. For her trailblazing in wardrobe and on stage, the singer has been hailed as changing the game for the pop world, not only through her edgy style of music but also for her openness, honesty, and vulnerability. We can see a true artist at work, both professionally and personally.
Both inside and outside her music, Pink is known for being authentic and true to herself. Her lyrics often speak about being "real." Not only does this theme appear in her music, but it seems to carry over into her personal life as well. She remains very candid about her struggles and experiences, and she often expresses her desire to be seen as a real person, not just a celebrity.
This is the case in her romantic life as well. The singer is very vocal and open about her relationship in interviews and on her social media. She has been married to Carey Hart for 16 years and often speaks about the successes and failures in their relationship.
The 42-year-old pop icon met the extreme sports fanatic fittingly at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. After some rocky years, the couple got married in Costa Rica in January of 2006. They welcomed their daughter, Willow Sage, in June 2011 and later their son, Jameson Moon, in December 2016.

The singer perhaps draws inspiration from her own upbringing. Both of Pink's parents had busy careers, which they balanced alongside their family.
Her mother, Judith Moore, was an emergency room nurse and her father, James Moore, was an insurance salesman. These jobs left little time for the children. In an interview with The Project, the singer opened up about her mother's absence, revealing, "My mom worked full-time. She was an ER nurse. She went to school at night... We raised ourselves mostly."
However, Pink's mother still managed to find time to devote to her children. Recalling her childhood, Pink admitted, "She was a single mom and she kicked a**. And she took me to gymnastics and she showed up for my recitals and she's killed herself to do it all." Her parents had divorced when Pink was 10.
Seeing her mother's sacrifice, Pink molded herself into a similarly steadfast parent. She became known for not only taking her kids on tour but also to even pause her music career entirely so that she could be around for their everyday moments, not just birthdays and holidays.
All this time, Pink has never forgotten her main inspiration: her mother. In August 2022, Pink shared a video of the two women dancing. Overlain was a text that read, "My mama. 75. Jitter bug champion. She told me I'm the only one left that she knows that can dance with her." Her caption, "just joy," perfectly captured their mood as well as the effect they have on the world.
