Pink Hosts the Tonys and Gets a Standing Ovation — All to Impress Her 15-Year-Old

Pink has spent more than 25 years performing on some of the biggest stages in the world — arenas, stadiums, Super Bowls, festival headliner slots. She has done it while suspended above the crowd, spinning on aerial silks, and belting without a backing track. On Sunday, June 7, 2026, she added a new challenge: hosting the 79th Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. And she had one person she was most desperate to impress.
"Tonight, I am here as Broadway's biggest fan — well, second biggest, next to my daughter, Willow," Pink, born Sept. 8, 1979, said during her opening monologue. "I don't know where she is, but I did not take this job so my kid could get Broadway selfies — although we did get her a few. And a couple for mama."
The self-deprecating humor was characteristic Pink — and the story behind it was equally so. When she was first approached about hosting the awards, she went directly to Willow for approval. "When I asked my daughter, she was really excited about being able to have a ticket to go to the Tonys," Pink said. "So I'm hosting the Tonys, and I'm really, really excited and very nervous because that girl is a tough crowd."
Willow Hart, born June 2, 2011, has been a devoted Broadway fan for several years. Pink brought her as her date to a Broadway premiere in April 2026. She arrived on the blue carpet at the Tonys with her entire family — husband Carey Hart, Willow, 15, son Jameson, 9, and her mother, Judith Moore.
The standing ovation was real. But it was one person's approval she was really after.

Pink opened the show with a sprawling performance of "Lady Marmalade" — a song she recorded alongside Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Mýa for the 2001 film "Moulin Rouge!" This time, she changed the lyrics, gave shoutouts to a parade of Broadway stars, and was joined onstage by Megan Thee Stallion, who made her Broadway debut in 2026 in the stage version of "Moulin Rouge! The Musical." Additional performers included Lea Michele, Marla Mindelle, and dozens of dancers.
Before the performance, Pink did a short skit with Neil Patrick Harris and showed off her acrobatic skills — poking fun at herself for landing the hosting gig.
"I just want to show how much I love theater, even though I've never been on Broadway," she said.
The audience gave her a standing ovation. Reactions online called the performance "outstanding," "iconic," "spectacular," and "amazing." "Pink performs like no other!" one Instagram commenter wrote. Another went further:
"She outsang all of Broadway!"
The 79th Tony Awards recognized the best of the 2025-2026 Broadway season. Among the notable productions in competition were "Othello" starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, "Sunday in the Park with George" starring Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande, "Chess," and "Buena Vista Social Club."
For Pink, the night was both a professional milestone and a personal one. She had never hosted a major awards show of this scale. "That girl is a tough crowd," she had said of Willow. By the end of the evening, by all available evidence, she had finally won her over.
