Pink Floyd's Final Performance At Charity Concert — During This Month 2005

When it comes to classic rock and roll, one of the most popular bands of all time is Pink Floyd. The band has put out dozens of albums that have gone down in musical history as the best of the best, and we are not complaining. However, after an essential band member, Roger Waters had a falling out with David Gilmour, Waters chose to leave the group in 1985. The band toured without Waters for years, reuniting for a one-time-only concert for global awareness called Live 8. The concert took place on July 2, 2005, and was the last time the entire band would perform together.

Pink Floyd's demise centered around the conflicts that took place between Waters and Gilmour, the band's leader, according to Rolling Stone. Since the band started touring, there were reports of various conflicts between Waters and Gilmour. However, they mostly set aside these conflicts in the name of music. After the release of The Final Cut in 1983, Waters decided to leave Pink Floyd in favor of starting a solo career. He officially considered the band "over" after their last leg of the album tour in 1985. He even went as far as to sue Gilmour to prevent the use of the band's name on further recordings and tours.

The band experienced quite a few hardships during that time period, as they were unsure what the fate of the band would be. However, Waters admitted to Rolling Stone magazine that he regrets having sued the remaining band members. While the band never officially rejoined, Pink Floyd was able to continue touring. In 2005, they accepted a performance request for Live 8, which was an important global event. This performance would be the first and only time that Waters played with the members of Pink Floyd since he split from the band in 1985, according to Rolling Stone. It was a show that would go down in history for fans of the band. While some hoped this would bring about more touring opportunities for the group as a whole, that sadly wouldn't be the case. In 2008, keyboardist Rick Wright passed away at 65. After this, the band no longer toured or performed.

At their 2005 performance, however, Pink Floyd played with Waters for the first time since he left the band in a recorded show, which you can watch below. They performed many of their better-known classics and fan favorites. Songs in the set included, Speak to Me/Breath, Money, Wish You Were Here, and Comfortably Numb.

The show itself was incredible. Fans and critics of the band alike have agreed that this show brought back some of the energy and enthusiasm they had missed from Pink Floyd in recent years. Other fans stated that the music felt right, like a missing piece of the puzzle had finally been put in place. While there were concerns as to whether or not there would be obvious tension during the performance, all four members of the band appeared to have a great time. Whether or not they knew it would be the last time they all performed together, they certainly made the most of it.

Ultimately, Pink Floyd has a long history and has gone down as one of the best-known classical-rock bands. They continue to be a popular musical choice to this day. Being able to watch the historical moment when the band members reunited is almost magical, and it will go down in history as their last official show together.
