Although it’s been nearly two decades since Pink’s debut single hit the Billboard Hot 100, the 41-year-old pop star is still shaking things up in the entertainment industry. Ahead of accepting the Icon Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, held on May 23 in Los Angeles, California, Pink showed the world that she still has the energy and talent to impress an audience when she performed an aerial acrobatics duet with her 9-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart.

The high-flying routine was accompanied by the February 2021 track “Cover Me In Sunshine,” which featured both Willow and mother Pink’s vocals. After wrapping their bodies in ropes, Pink and Willow spun and moved in sync with the music across a massive black background, which featured a full moon. Pink sported a jet-black leotard while her daughter wore a light pink outfit with sparkles.

Pink and daughter Willow’s “Cover Me In Sunshine” track first debuted on TikTok back on Feb. 8, only for RCA Records to officially release the song a few days later. While the duet didn’t break any records, it impressed critics around the world, who commended the track for how upbeat and adorable it was.

Pink started a family with motocross racer Carey Hart, getting married in 2006. The power couple welcomed their first child, Willow, in June 2011, while they welcomed a son, Jameson Moon Hart, in December 2016. Pink’s family life doesn’t seem to have gotten in the way of her career, however. In fact, the Billboard performance shows that the pop star and mother of two seems to have successfully integrated her family and professional lives.

The Billboard Awards acrobatic duet wasn’t the first time that Pink has wowed fans with her high-flying dance skills. In fact, Pink has performed her own acrobatic performances at concerts and award shows throughout her decades-long career. As she explains it in a 2017 CBS Sunday Morning interview, the musician took up gymnastics at a young age, though she was eventually booted from the sport after she decided to become a rockstar. Then, while at a Cher concert, Pink had an idea. The singer says that while she enjoyed the backup dancers and aerialists at the show, she asked herself why it was that musicians themselves didn’t partake in the gravity-defying fun. That’s when Pink got in touch with one of Cher’s aerialists to learn the art of flying high above the stage.

During the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, Pink introduced her own daughter, 9-year-old Willow, to the art of aerial acrobatics, suiting up for their duet “Cover Me In Sunshine.” In addition to the mother-daughter performance, Pink also sang a medley of hits from her career, including "Get the Party Started," “So What” and “Just Give Me a Reason.”

"I love what I do and I love the people that I get  to do it with, and we're pretty good at what we do, but it wouldn't matter if no one came to see us and play with us," Pink said during her Icon Award acceptance speech. "So all of you guys out there, and around the world, thank you for coming out and for letting us all heal together. I can't wait until we can do it all again, until we can just sweat all over each other."

With hits like “Get the Party Started,” “Just Give Me a Reason” and “What About Us,” Pink is one of the biggest pop stars of her generation. But the singer wasn’t born into fame. At the age of 14, the ambitious artist performed in clubs around Philadelphia, opting to be called “Pink” instead of her given name, Alecia Beth Moore. Fast forward two years later, and the Pennsylvania-native was a signed recording artist part of the short-lived R&B group Choice. When Choice disbanded as a group, Pink caught her big break — she released “There You Go” as a solo artist, making it onto the Billboard charts at just 21 years old.

Since then, Pink has made quite a career for herself, having released eight studio albums, more than 50 singles and dozens of music videos. But that isn’t all the star has been up to. The 41-year-old pop icon also started a family with motocross racer Carey Hart.

Since having kids, Pink’s career shows no signs of slowing down, as the singer was featured in the documentary, “P!nk: All I Know So Far,” which gives viewers an inside look at how the singer navigates being a mom and an artist during the “Beautiful Trauma World Tour” — the second-highest-grossing world tour of all time.

"There's not a lot of women headlining stadiums and doing two nights at Wembley Stadium while having a family on the road. (Director Michael Gracey) had never seen a mom changing diapers while having a creative meeting, and just the way that this big life intersects with being a normal, crazy family — there's something fascinating about that," Pink told People Magazine of the “P!nk: All I Know So Far” documentary, which arrived on Amazon Prime on May 21, 2021.
