In this day and age, we all accept that there's nothing a man can do that a woman cannot. Still, many barriers have yet to be smashed through by strong women. However, one of the most impressive women you'll hear about this week just demolished one of those barriers.

Meet Anneliese Satz. At first glance, she looks like your ordinary blonde 29-year-old young woman. But this blonde from Boise, Idaho, isn't just any ordinary woman. She's an extraordinarily talented pilot and a captain in the United States Marine Corps. Captain Satz recently became the first woman to fly an F-35 fighter jet, which until now only men have piloted.

It took 300 hours of flying and four years of training for Captain Satz to get to this point. But she says that the experience of finally flying the F-35 was utterly exhilarating. This type of jet is flown solo, which means Captain Satz doesn't have a co-pilot when she's up in the sky. But she doesn't need one. She's a capable pilot who's breaking down barriers while serving her country proudly. Per the official press release from the United States Armed Forces, Captain Satz will fly the F-35B Lightning II "as part of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121, the Green Knights, in Iwakuni, Japan."

Captain Satz says that she continues to be honored to serve her country. When asked what advice she gives to young aspiring pilots, she said that the key to her success was "showing up prepared and working diligently." She says that she is endlessly grateful to her instructors. Captain Satz has been flying long before she enlisted. She's long held her commercial pilot's license and used to fly helicopters. A lifelong love of aviation and a passion for the skies drove her to serve her country and change history for women and girls.

Now that Captain Satz has opened the door, we hope to see more and more female pilots in our armed forces. There's no job a man can do that a woman can't do just as well. Show this story to the young women and girls in your life to remind them that they have no limitations when it comes to going after their dreams and obtaining the life they want.
