Piers Morgan Says Meghan And Harry Are 'Self-Obsessed' And Criticizes Co-Host For Defending Them

Outspoken British broadcaster Piers Morgan has lambasted Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for their decision to distance themselves from the Royal family. He recently went after his co-host Susana Reid on Good Morning Britain because she revealed she feels sorry for the royal couple and stuck up for them amid the crisis. 

In a piece Morgan wrote for the Daily Mail, he described the move as a “disgraceful royal antic” and called for the couple to be stripped of their Royal titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Calling the Duke and Duchess “deluded clowns,” Morgan criticized the couple for their decision to step back from their roles as Royals and said the two ought to be stripped of their titles.

“Indeed, if I were Her Majesty the Queen, I would unceremoniously strip Harry and Meghan of all their titles with immediate effect and despatch them back into civilian life,” he wrote.

Recently on Good Morning Britain, Piers went after Susana Reid for sticking up for Meghan and Harry in a recent clip that shows Harry telling Disney Chief Bob Iger that Meghan does voice acting. In the clip, Harry can be seen telling Iger that Meghan is really interested in doing some voice acting for Disney. Susana said she thought it was "sweet and supportive" that Harry was talking about Meghan's talents to the Disney boss. 

However, Piers branded the incident "nonsense." He said, "this extraordinary clip of Prince Harry hustling the boss at the Lion King premier. Have you seen anything more cringe-making?" But Sussana believed Piers was being judgmental of the situation.

He questioned why Sussana doesn't have sympathy for the queen. "Why? Why don’t you feel as much for the Queen and Prince Phillip? You think Meghan has been driven out by racism? Where is the racism?"

Harry had released a statement before Meghan and him wed about the racial undertones that were being used by the British tabloids about Meghan. Through a press release statement, Harry conveyed, that a line had been crossed.

 "Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments," the statement read. 

The New York Times also published an article about how many of Britain's minority residents felt relieved that the couple finally stepped down. They believe nobody should tolerate the abusive and racist behavior that was slapped upon them in the British press.

The Times also highlighted all of the incidents where Meghan was the subject of racist and sexist stories with references to her "exotic DNA” and tracking down her family history as slaves in the U.S. 

However, Piers believes no racism is to be found in the tabloids. He furthered his opinion saying, "Give me a break. They’re wallowing in their own self-obsessed world... we're supposed to feel sorry for them."
