Pierce Brosnan Posts Tender Photo With Wife Keely Shaye Smith In Home Country

Pierce Brosnan's legacy as an actor needs no introduction. Best known for his portrayal of secret agent 007 James Bond in the film franchise, Pierce played the famous character in four movies from 1995–2002. 

On top of the star-making role, the Irish actor has created a wide-ranging filmography that leaves almost no genre untouched. From comedies like "Mrs. Doubtfire," to action movies such as the Bond franchise and other hits like "The Thomas Crown Affair" and "Dante's Peak," Pierce has proven himself to be a skilled performer.

He even wowed us with his musical talents in the "Mamma Mia!" franchise. Nominated for two Golden Globes in his career, Pierce is still acting regularly and even appeared in a DC Comics movie as the superhero Doctor Fate "Black Adam," which was released in July 2022. 

Outside of his stellar career, Pierce has proven himself to be a true family man, but sadly he's endured his fair share of tragedy. Pierce's first wife, actress Cassandra Harris, passed away from ovarian cancer in 1991 at the age of 43, and 22 years later, their daughter Charlotte succumbed to the same fate.

Years later, Pierce met journalist Keely Shaye Smith, and he credited her with helping him overcome Cassandra and Charlotte's deaths. Pierce and Smith have two children of their own, sons Paris and Dylan Brosnan. Pierce has shown his love for Smith on numerous occasions, including coming to her defense when online trolls body-shamed her.

Pierce and Smith frequently share photos of themselves on social media, showing off their love for the world to see. In March 2023, Pierce shared a selfie of him and Smith in his native Ireland, after shooting for his upcoming film "Four Letters of Love," wrapped. Pierce is known for being a brilliant actor and a kind-hearted person. Following the tragic deaths of Cassandra and Charlotte, Pierce has devoted time to charitable causes in the name of cancer research. He told Esquire, as reported by 9Honey, that the personal tragedies he's endured have left their mark on him.

"I don't look at the cup as half full, believe me," he said. "The dark, melancholy Irish dog sits beside me from time to time." He continued, "To watch someone you love have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that kind of sorrow becomes an (indelible) part of your psyche."

Nevertheless, he said, "you learn to rise above it." Another way that he's risen above the pain is with the help of Smith. The couple got married in 2001 in Pierce's native Ireland, and over the years, Smith has been by the actor's side to support him in any way possible, as he has with her. Pierce even revealed to The Sun that Smith helped him with his grief over his first wife.

“Keely has always been kind and compassionate and encouraged me to mourn Cassie ... I think of her all the time. I ­suppose Keely is my North Star, always looking out for me," he said.

It has always been Smith’s personality and heart of gold that have been the reasons why Pierce has been so in love with his wife. This became even more apparent when trolls online began to publicly make fun of Smith's weight, forcing Pierce to step in and defend his wife. He said: 

"In the past, I truly loved her for her person, not only for her beauty, and now I’m loving her even more that she is my children’s mother. And I am very proud of her, and I always seek to be worthy of her love."

Considering what they've been through together as a couple, it's no surprise that Pierce and Smith's love is rock solid. Often sharing photos of themselves on social media, there's no denying the couple is as loved up as when they first met. Pierce's Instagram page shows that family is the most important thing to the actor — the page is studded with photographs of people who mean the most to Pierce.

In March 2023, the actor shared two photos that clearly hold a special place in his heart. Following the filming of "Four Letters of Love" — which took place in County Antrim, Northern Ireland — Pierce shared photos of himself and Smith on the beach. In the first photo, Pierce stood in front of the gorgeous natural landscape dressed in all black and wrote:

"Down the wild Atlantic way, Donegal. We have had the most memorable of times in the company of all while making “The Four Letters of Love” based on the best seeking (sic) book of the same name by Niall Williams."

Smith took the photo and appeared in the second shot — a selfie of her and Pierce with the sunshine on their faces. In contrast to the sunny weather, the couple looked rugged up in winter jackets. The caption read:

"And that’s a wrap! Mullaghderg Beach along the wild Atlantic way. The luck of the Irish was with us as the sun shone upon us during the filming of 'The Four Letters of Love.'"

The film, based on Niall Williams' book of the same name, is about a love story between a couple who are fated to be together.

Just like in fiction, Pierce and Smith's love in real life appears to be written in the stars.
