Pierce Brosnan & Keely Shaye Smith Looked Ageless In Their Stunning Met Gala Debut

Relationships in Hollywood are full of excitement and complications, whether it be a fleeting romance between two teen idols or a longtime relationship gone wrong. For Pierce Brosnan and his wife, their relationship has surpassed the test of time, as they have been married for an incredible 20 years. Every time they are spotted together, it's evident that they are wonderfully in love. However, there has been some controversy surrounding their relationship in recent years. 

When Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith first got married, everyone was mesmerized by how absolutely stunning they were as a couple, as they were both incredibly attractive. They had met back in April 1994 and were later married in Ireland on Aug. 4, 2001. Together they have two sons: Dylan Thomas Brosnan and Paris Beckett Brosnan.

After Smith gave birth to their two children, she put on some extra weight, resulting in harsh criticism about her appearance. Maybe people were shocked to see that the former James Bond star had stayed with someone whose appearance had changed so much, but Brosnan and Smith's love has proven time and again that it goes beyond the surface level.

Physical attributes aside, the actor has been open about how his wife helped him overcome a challenging time in his life following the deaths of his first wife and daughter and allowed him to fully mourn and cope with the devastating losses in his life. Since then, Brosnan has continuously professed his love for his beautiful wife, bringing her to important events and public gatherings as frequently as possible. 

On May 1, 2023, when the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York decked its steps for the annual MET Gala, Brosnan and Smith were in attendance, marking their first time attending the star-studded ceremony. 

Brosnan has repeatedly shown that his wife's beautiful personality is what matters most to him. Love is definitely not only skin deep in this relationship, as Brosnan has gone above and beyond to defend his wife and their relationship to the world, no matter what either of them looks like. 

According to The Sun, Brosnan even said, "I love her vitality, her passion. When Keely looks at me I go weak at the knees."

Not only was Smith his weakness, but she was also his strength. According to the actor, Smith has always been kind and compassionate to him, even through the toughest hardships. Smith even encouraged her husband Brosnan to mourn Cassie, the actor's late daughter.  

"I think of her all the time. I ­suppose Keely is my North Star, always looking out for me."

It has always been Smith's personality and heart of gold that have been the reasons why Brosnan has been so in love with his wife. This became even more apparent when trolls online began to publicly make fun of Smith's weight. Last year, TV personality Jenelle Evans from the show "Teen Mom" shared photos of the couple on her Facebook and made derogatory comments about how Smith looked. 

Brosnan doesn't seem bothered by cruel taunts from strangers online, and he certainly has no issue with his wife's body. The couple has never shied away from the cameras and attended every red-carpet premiere, press event, and gatherings they were invited to, with the Met Gala becoming their biggest one yet.

For many years, the Met Gala has become an intersection of many industries – entertainment, music, modeling, art, and fashion. Annually, with the leadership of Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, the Met Gala was held as a fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. 

To raise funds, luxury brands invite celebrities and personalities to attend the ball dressed in a specific theme. For the 2023 Met Gala, the theme was in honor of fashion visionary Karl Lagerfeld. Celebrities like Serena Williams, Rihanna, Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, Gisele Bundchen, and Nicole Kidman, among many others, have attended.  

Brosnan and Smith attended the fashion event. Showing up with a tailored Tom Ford suit and matching rose-tinted glasses, Brosnan looked dapper at 69. Smith, on the other hand, was stunning in her black Monique Lhuillier sequined gown. 

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about their Met Gala debut, Brosnan had this to say: 

"This is our first time. Our very first time," Brosnan clarified to the outlet that it was their first time attending the ball. "Why not if not now, when?"

Continuing more of their feelings on attending the most-talked-about celebrity outing, Brosnan described it as a "great occasion." More so, the "Black Adam" actor spoke about Lagerfeld and how they met back then. 

"Mr. Karl Lagerfeld, he was someone that we both admired and someone who a number of years ago came and took our photographs and our children's photographs. So to be invited is just delightful occasion. A celebration," he added.
