Photographer Saves Dog From Deserted Island And Gives Him Second Chance At Life

Back in 2019, Bozman resident Wesley White saw a dog in-need in an unexpected place. While kayaking in Belize, he found a starving puppy on a remote island. He couldn't find anyone on the island, so he took the puppy back with him to Belize City, where he was medically treated and taken care of. Wesley named him Winston, and he helped to save the sweet pup's life. Once Winston was healed and ready to travel, he was brought to Wesley's home in Montana.

According to the Dodo video below, Wesley was kayaking past a remote island when he neared a deserted fishing shack. Something caught Wesley's eye when be passed the Belize island. He saw a poor dog that was little more than skin and bones. How did the poor creature end up on the island with no food? That remains a mystery.

Mercifully, Wesley was a kind soul who wished to help the dog. He thought someone else was on the island, but the dog was all alone. Wesley called out, and no one answered. At this point, he realized the dog had been abandoned. Wesley knew it was up to him to protect the poor puppy.

As much as Wesley wanted to help, he had the challenge to face. In 36 hours, Wesley would be leaving Belize. Could he save the poor creature before exiting the country?

Putting the dog in the kayak and bringing him to the mainland would not be an issue. He did worry about straightening things out with the dog's care before departing.

Mercifully, the people at Wesley's hotel pitched in and helped him. In turn, they also helped the poor dog. Wesley was able to connect Winston with a local veterinarian. Dr. Mia provided the necessary care the four-legged castaway needed. Wesley left Belize, but he intended to return. And he wanted to bring Winton back with him on his return. Luckily, Wesley found Winston a foster home.

Dr. Mia continued to provide Wesley with updates about Winston's health. The dog made a remarkable recovery, and he reunited with Wesley upon the young man's return to Belize. Wesley would depart Belize again. This time, he brought Winston with him to the United States. Winston finds his new home far more appealing than a deserted island.

A young man showed great kindness after finding a lost and abandoned dog. Their story is uplifting to be sure. Make other people feel good by telling them about Winston's rescue.
