People Are Calling A Grocery Delivery Woman A Heaven-Sent 'Hero' For Saving A Man's Life

Have you ever had one of those moments when you felt something was wrong you went above and beyond your job description? Well, most people who have good hearts do. There are a lot of people who get gut feelings from time to time, but there are only a few who listen and act on them, and that can say a lot about how good a person is.

But the best part about listening to one’s gut feeling is that not only could you touch the life of another person, but you could also potentially save the life of another person. One woman from Georgia did just that – and now people are calling her an angel.

Jessica Higgs, an employee of American grocery delivery and pick-up service company Instacar, became emotional in one of her TikTok videos after she shared how an ordinary day turned into one of the most unforgettable days of her life.

In February 2022, Higgs got a call from a daughter who wanted something delivered for her father. While she admitted that it wasn’t unusual for her to go the extra mile at work, she went even further that day.

“It was a daughter ordering for her older dad that could shop for himself. I do the order, I’m going extra mile for this customer like I always do. But for whatever reason, this time, I was even going further and checking the back and everything,” she said.

When Higgs got the order, the daughter told her she could just leave the items on the porch because her dad would just pick them up. But she felt something was off. So, she went around the house to check if something was wrong.

“I got there and something was telling me, ‘You’ve got to help this man out,’” Higgs recalled in the video. “You’re not supposed to go inside someone’s house, but I used my judgment and I brought the groceries inside.”

So what Higgs did was she sent the daughter a message to let her know that her father “looked sick.” Feeling dizzy herself, Higgs suggested that there might be a gas leak. So, her son went to check it when he got there. The daughter then thanked Higgs for saving his dad’s life.

“Once my son went to check on my dad it turned out it was definitely was leaking, you definitely saved my dad and my younger son’s life!” Higgs said, recalling what the daughter told her.

People started praising Higgs for what she did, with some of them even calling her an angel sent from above and a hero for being an instrument in saving the man’s life.

“This was so touching! Seriously God sends us angels in the time of need. You were The angel he sent to that man! Always trust your gut,” one person said.

“You were meant to be there. Angels exist and you are one of them,” another person stated.

“God used you!!! Glad you listened,” another person remarked. “You’re not just a Instacart worker, you’re a hero!” a person said.

An Instacart representative released a statement, saying they feel grateful to have people like Jessica – who try to make a difference in the lives of other people – on their team.

“We are constantly inspired by the incredible people who choose to be Instacart shoppers and intentionally make a positive impact in the lives of others,” the Instacart representative told TODAY. “This story touched our hearts and we are grateful for shoppers like Jessica.”
