Patrick Stewart, whose full name is Sir Patrick Stewart, is a world-famous English actor whose career spans over half a century. According to Britannica.com, Stewart came from humble beginnings. He was the youngest of three boys and had a very troubled childhood due to the abuse his father, Alfred Stewart, inflicted on their family. Alfred was a regimental sergeant major in the British Army during the Second World War. Due to his time at war, Alfred suffered from combat fatigue, which is now known as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Stewart, who began acting at the age of 12, used his father as inspiration for some of his biggest roles throughout his acting career.

Stewart began acting at an early age; his big break came years later. In 1966, Stewart became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. The following year, he made his Broadway debut when he portrayed "Oberon" in "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Following his Broadway debut, Stewart began acting in several minor American and British television roles. But in 1973, Stewart became an international star when he landed the role of "Capt. Jean-Luc Picard" in the science-fiction series "Star Trek: The Next Generation." According to Fansided, Stewart's role as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard was one of his most memorable roles. Some of his other iconic roles include his portrayal of "Charles Xavier/Professor X" in the "X-men film series," "Ebenezer Scrooge" in "A Christmas Carol," and "Captain Ahab" in "Mobey Dick." Although the award-winning actor has spent over five decades in the public eye, he keeps his personal life private.

Patrick Stewart has two children, a son and daughter, Daniel Stewart, and Sophie Alexandra Stewart, whom he had with his first wife, Sheila Falconer. According to IMBD, Falconer is also an actress. She is known for her roles in "Half a Sixpence," "Three Hats for Lisa," and "Lady Jane."

Patrick was married to his first wife for over two decades. The couple divorced in 1990. Despite his flourishing career, the "Stark Trek" veteran regrets how much time he spent away from his children to pursue his own dreams. In an interview with New York Daily News, Patrick explained how fatherhood sometimes didn't fit into his busy schedule.

"When I got married and I had children, I missed huge amounts of [family] time," the actor told the outlet. "I would see my kids on Sundays if I was lucky. It was hard on my kids."

Although Patrick regrets not spending enough time with his children, his impressive acting career seems to have influenced their career choices. Patrick's eldest child, Daniel, followed his father's footsteps and began acting. According to Hollywood Life, the father-son duo appeared in multiple productions together. In an interview with USA Today, Daniel mentions how his father's acting career influenced his unconventional upbringing.

"This industry and the fact that we're both in it brings up all kinds of bizarre circumstances," Daniel told the outlet. "The lives we lead can be sort of ridiculous. My upbringing wasn't a typical one in that my mum and dad came home at 5 and dinner was on the table at 6."

Although Daniel's childhood wasn't typical, his father was a guiding light to help him find his passion, acting.

Patrick Stewart shared with The Independent how initially he was "horrified" when his son Daniel decided to pursue acting. Patrick blamed their strained relationship because he was "obsessed" with his career.

But over time, he now views his shared passion with his son as a way for them to connect. Daniel Stewart shared with the Daily Press advice his father gave him about acting and classical texts.

"He's taught me a lot, such as how to approach a classical text," said Stewart. With his father's teaching, Daniel now feels like "Shakespeare is one of the most actor-friendly writers around."

Daniel's admiration for his father is mutual. In an interview with USA Today, Patrick praised Daniel's acting skills after appearing on the Starz comedy series "Blunt Talk.

"Daniel has a wonderful talent for comedy, particularly wacky comedy. So we shared an episode. Hopefully, we'll be sharing many more," said Patrick.

The X men actor believes that his shared procession with his son is a way for them to connect.

"I think it's a great thing that we're both in the same profession," he told USA Today. "It has so brought so much into both our lives that we can share and enjoy talking about. It's terrific."

Although Daniel followed in his father's footsteps, his sister, Sophie, did not. As a result, little is known about Patrick's youngest child. According to the Independent, Sophie is a mother of four. Although she prefers a private life away from the spotlight, she does join her father and brother at red carpet events for support.
