You've probably never heard a more shocking back-to-school event than this. A kindergarten school from southeast China is currently under fire by angry parents after they organized a shocking pole dancing performance as an inappropriate back-to-school activity for the children that attended.

On September 3rd, alarming footage was uploaded to social media that showcased the pole dancing performance and is causing outrage among parents everywhere, even those who aren't in the school's district. The uploaded footage shows a woman in scantily-clad clothing and massive high heels happily spinning around a pole in order to entertain her audience.

The problem? Her audience was a room full of furious parents and extremely confused children just trying to enroll themselves in classes.

The school is from the Bao’an District which is located in Shenzhen, China. Parents were shocked to see videos of this inappropriate performance on social media and couldn't believe that the school board had planned such an event. Many of the parents are angry enough that they are attempting to pull their children from the school and are demanding that they receive a full refund on the money that they have paid for tuition.

The school, Xinshashui Kindergarten, have issued an apology that many parents consider to be lackluster after the performance and maintain that they had good intentions for the back-to-school welcome. But their apology and further actions aren't changing any minds of angry parents, as many are wondering what the principal was thinking when booking this event for their children in the first place.

As reported by the Shenzhen Evening News many witnesses came forward to state that the pole dancer in question had been using a flagpole to dance. The flagpole was bearing the national flag of China, which further angered parents and adults that witnessed the performance. The audience for the dancer is estimated to be around 600 people.

Although pole dancing popularity is on the rise in China, it still has a negative connotation for many citizens, as they think about pornography or strip clubs when they see this type of dancer. Pole dancing is still controversial in such a conservative country.

In light of these events, the principal, a man named Lai Rong, has been immediately terminated after videos of the performance went viral. Even their police force demanded that the principal no longer be allowed to work at the school. His statements say that he was only trying to lighten up the mood and the situation on the first day back at school. He also apologized for not planning an appropriate event, but even after his apology, he was still turned away from continuing to work at the school.

The board of education from the school has issued a statement where they say they do not believe in this performance, and also found it inappropriate. They maintain that they’re still investigating the incident and may update further.

Shockingly, some parents were okay with this incident and believe that pole dancing is just another form of dancing, which is art. They don't understand why other parents would be alarmed by seeing this type of art in a classroom setting. Although many were outraged, a small number maintain that it was innocent and that the principal didn't do anything wrong. If nothing else, this performance has started a national conversation about what should be appropriate for school and what should be left for adults to enjoy.

What would you do if this occurred at your child’s school? Do you believe it was innocent, or do you think it’s inappropriate? Pass this on to your friends and loved ones to start a conversation about the topic.
