Parents Raging After Man Installs Electric Fence To Keep Kids Off His Lawn

The concept of an electric fence might remind you of a high-security area or an agricultural situation. In Henrico County, VA, the age-old dangerous barrier made an appearance in a residential neighborhood. To keep school kids and other trespassers off his land, a homeowner installed an electric fence on his property.

Nearby parents now feel anger over the dangerous barrier. The presence of an electrified fence creates quite a hazard for their children. How can local authorities allow the fence to remain in place and stay operational? Surely, there are laws on the books in Virginia that ban dangerous traps and hazards?

Sadly, the continued presence of an electric fence may lead to a tragic event and the chances of someone suffering an injury are great. The human body obviously doesn't respond well to enormous amounts of electricity.

The question remains why someone would electrify a fence and present such a danger.

Property owners don't want to see damage or vandalism occur to land in which they invest time and money. Young people don't always respect homeowner boundaries because they don't always understand them. Regardless, no excuse exists for trespassing and vandalism.

To take precautions against deliberate or accidental problems, property owners build fences and walls. Electrifying a barrier, however, takes things to dangerous levels.

One positive point to the story is the tale provides an example of caution to young people. They need to be mindful of dangers existing in their neighborhood.
