A couple from London, Sharon and Charlie Corcoran have been going through a nightmare that no parent should ever go through. Both in their mid-20s have been forced to through the horror of seeing their two children die within less than a month.

Their sons, Charlie and Noah, were born with a condition that keeps the brain from developing fully while in the womb. They were diagnosed with polymicrogyria. Noah was the youngest of the brothers born on June 11th last year. He succumbed to death only a few hours after he was born.

No parent should have to bury their child.

Charlie was their first son, born with the same condition as Noah. He went to rest with angels only three weeks after Noah died. On 4th of July the same year, the couple lost both their sons. This left them distraught and in shock at how life could be so uncertain and ruthless.

Polymicrogyria is a hereditary condition that doesn’t allow the brain matter to develop to its whole form during the gestation period completely. Neither of the parents had an idea one of them carried the degenerative gene.

The condition triggers various genetic flaws that may affect the offspring negatively. It may impair an individual’s speech, nerve abilities and ability to conduct routine tasks independently.

In severe cases where the condition becomes permanent, it may trigger derailed development, epilepsy, difficulty chewing and swallowing, derailed speech and paralysis.

In the worst of scenarios, polymicrogyria may lead to fatal seizures, and muscle inflexibility making it difficult for the body to respond accordingly to reflex actions such as breathing.

Mrs. Sharon Corcoran was deeply affected by the loss of her two children. At 23 now, she is determined to create awareness about the condition and help kids going through the same fate as her sons. Noah was born with polymicrogyria so severe that even the doctors didn’t see him surviving past delivery.

However, he tried, he fought for his life for six hours before resting for eternity.

Going to a hospital for delivery and returning home without your bundle of joy is devastating. The Corcoran’s returned to their only son after the death of Noah. Unfortunately, Charlie followed his brother just three weeks after Noah’s death at only three years old.

Due to the devastation, the couple vowed to make a change.

They have been collecting donations for the Northwick Park Hospital in London where Charlie went for his treatments. They aim at buying necessary equipment to help kids like Charlie who had breathing problems get through their treatments. With a target of £3,000, they stand at £2,300.
